| Jimmy Eat World – Pol Roger Lyrics | 6 years ago |
| Jim Adkins writes this from his hotel room at the Hotel du Vin in Scotland, about being alone but not lonely. | |
| The Tragically Hip – Thugs Lyrics | 6 years ago |
|
You can borrow the "I do the rolling, you do the detail" line direct from the bank robbery video -- I'll man the getaway car (rolling), you get in there and rob the place (the detail). Interestingly enough, it can also be very literal in painting a room, which is quite hilarious. |

| Līve – White, Discussion Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
For those wondering about the part he preaches right before "look where all this talking got us", he references the verse directly before that: 1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. |

| Līve – White, Discussion Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
For those wondering about the preacher's last words,"You yourselves know perfectly, that the day so cometh," they are derived from a bible verse: 1 Thessalonians 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. |

| Edwin – Trippin Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| He released another album under "Edwin & the Pressure", I watched him get pelted in the face with a rock from the Fort Erie Friendship Festival in 2003, "The Pressure" came off stage to try and kick the rock thrower's ass. Edwin then formed a new band Crash Karma with other washed up Canadian musicians, they also played at the Friendship Festival in like 2010 or something and haven't been heard from since. Edwin is now a bartender in Toronto and still would have been better off not being a dick and staying with I Mother Earth. | |
| Passenger – Let Her Go Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Every once in a while, there is a song released that doesn't require anybody's "interpretation" or mind-numbing line-by-line dissection of a song's lyrics on song meanings dot net. Wrap it up folks, because if you can't get this one, you have no soul. | |
| Jimmy Eat World – Night Drive Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| This song is about passionate sex and you people need to stop reading into every single line. The innuendos are plenty enough. | |
| Lifehouse – Sick Cycle Carousel Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| "Here's a song, about 7 years ago, in Los Angeles, California... about a relationship that I was in at the time that was kind of... on the rocks... and uh, this is a song from a really tough time period, but I'm sure... those of you who have our first record will hear the message..." | |
| Jimmy Eat World – 23 Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
Everything before the first chorus is directed to the love of the protagonist's life whom he just broke up with. The chorus is best written like this: They say, "you'll sit alone forever if you wait for the right time, what are you hoping for?" I'm here, I'm now, I'm ready, holding on tight. Don't give away the end... the one thing that stays mine. This indicates the protagonist had to split this relationship because he was seeking true happiness that she could never give. He has a hard time explaining this to her. He then reflects... Amazing, still, it seems... I'll be 23 I won't always love what I'll never have I won't always live in my regrets He knows it's probably a bad idea. This phase will end. |

| Nickelback – Never Again Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| "She's just a woman" is a direct plea from the narrator (Chad) to the perpetrator (the abuser). Kind of a man-to-man thing. | |
| Nickelback – Never Again Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| As in, "she's just a woman, she can't fight back you stupid fuck" | |
| Band of Horses – Cigarettes, Wedding Bands Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
The working man's day, we just piss it away We sit out in the weather "Familiar", he said Time soon breeds contempt Wash your hands of it forever Violence, it ripped through the old dogwood fence See the whole scene unravel Your drunk brother said he could reason with them While they lied at night And the picture was the left on the front porch The back said, "I love you, don't you ever think of me?" If my body goes, then to hell with my soul We don't even know the difference The dead folks in the clouds, for crying out loud While they lied at night And why can we live so long? The house not the same since we left it that day Old friends seem to wander But our parents' hands: cigarettes, wedding bands While they lied at night. |

| Band of Horses – The Funeral Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I'm coming up only to hold you under And coming up only to show you wrong And to know you is hard; we wonder... To know you all wrong; we warn. Really too late to call, So we wait for morning to wake you Is all we got To know me as hardly golden Is to know me all wrong, they warn. At every occasion, I'll be ready for the funeral At every occasion, once more, it's called the funeral At every occasion, oh, I'm ready for the funeral At every occasion, oh, one billion day funeral I'm coming up only to show you down for And coming up only to show you wrong. To the outside: the dead leaves lay on the lawn For they don't have trees to hang their own. |

| Band of Horses – I Go to the Barn Because I Like the Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
You were right outside by your doorstep in an worn out suit and tie. I'll wait for you to come down, where you'll find me, where we'll shine, oh... hope this helps |

| Jimmy Eat World – My Best Theory Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
And now, for the actual lyrics: It's been a long time So long There's only one life I know But I have my own mind I'll say so if it seems right I see a warm face with a soft mouth But it speaks something else I'll take my chances with the cast-down We can feel the air rush out, Out from the centre Not like one side is any better Stand up as they bend, reaching My best theory? It's already in me So many questions And the answers come back unanswered Let's hope the old script gets a new twist We can feel the air rush out, Out from the centre Not like one side is any better Stand up as they bend, reaching My best theory? It's already in me In a lonely, real place Neither plan nor mistake Love what you have with your time By dowsing, find my true design? My flag? My appetite? |

| Brand New – Noro Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| sounds reasonable. the open hi-hat is masking the "it's getting" part of it. | |
| Band of Horses – The Funeral Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Oh that last stanza has that hanging "for" at the first line, so how about: I'm coming up only to show you down For I'm coming up only to show you wrong To the outside: the dead leaves, they're on the lawn For they don't have trees to hang their own. |
|
| Band of Horses – The Funeral Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Also, this would make more sense: To the outside: the dead leaves, they're on the lawn For they don't have trees to hang their own. |
|
| Band of Horses – The Funeral Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Also I believe the second line should probably be "And coming up only..." | |
| Band of Horses – The Funeral Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
And to know *you* is hard (sorry) |
|
| Band of Horses – The Funeral Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Here are the correct lyrics, courtesy of my ears and brain: I'm coming up only to hold you under I'm coming up only to show you wrong And to know is hard; we wonder To know you all wrong; we warn. Really too late to call, so we wait for Morning to wake you That's all we got And to know me as hardly golden Is to know me all wrong, they warn. At every occasion, I'll be ready for the funeral And every occasion, once more, is called the funeral Every occasion, know I'm ready for the funeral At every occasion, oh, one million day funeral I'm coming up only to show you down for And coming up only to show you wrong To the outside: the dead leaves there on the lawn For they don't have trees to hang their own. |

| Alexisonfire – Emerald Street Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Wambs none of them hate Hamilton. Some of the band was born there, lived/lives there, recorded there (most notably the last City & Colour record) | |
| Alexisonfire – Emerald Street Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| The entire lower city isn't "downtown", blisscent. There is so much more history in the lower city in neighbourhoods like St. Clair, Durand, Stinson and Kirkendall. The same can rarely be said for the bland suburbia of the mountain, most of which didn't exist until 1950. | |
| Alexisonfire – Emerald Street Lyrics | 16 years ago |
