| The Killers – Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
^ He chokes her and throws her in the river/ocean/lake The line from Midnight Show is "Crashing tide can hide a guilty girl" And live when the do Jenny he sometimes sings "She kicked and screamed while I held her throat" Also I think people forget that most of Jenny is a lie...because he's talking to the cops, telling them that he's innocent, when he most. def. is not. This song is amazing. You get to see a little bit of insanity before the murder... "The television's on, I turn it off and smile" That line creeps me out! The meaning is pretty simple though, Jenny was cheating on him...his love was more of an obsession...so he killed her. |

Yeah, I think that line is polically charged too, but I don't think he means in necassarly as a bash at Bush. He's just talking about what's wrong. I think this whole song is summed up in the line "Abel looked up at Cain" the younger brother looked up to his older brother and he killed him. The children are looking up to adults today and seeing violence everywhere... |

First off. Wow. This is amazing. I think it's about all the terrible things that are going on in the world, and it's filtering down to the kids. It sounds like Brandon's been wanting to say this for a while "See I was thinking that I lost my mind, but it's been getting to me all this time" And about the bad things, I don't think he's only talking about drugs, he's talking about anything that can bring someone down. "A hurry high from pestilence, pills and pride" The line about sailing is talking about getting away from all of this, being free...Personally my favorite line is Silently, reflection turns my world to stone. That line is so true, he's saying you can't stop to think about all of this because it's mind numbing, you'll become 'tranquilized' you have to move on and do your part. A-fucking-mazing. |

^ lol I love Rufus. But they didn't sleep together... "I don't know if Brandon's heard it yet; he might be completely horrified. But I was, once again, 'Thanks a lot, thanks a lot for not sleeping with me so I can write a song about you.'" Some article... |

| Rufus Wainwright – Between My Legs Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think this song is about lust. He says 'Now that you're away, I'm out there without you And I shed a tear between my legs' I took that to mean that he's sad the other person is not there but he's only sad between his legs...not in his heart. And later he says: 'I'm afraid of one thing, Will I walk away from love knowing nothing, wearing my heart between my legs?' He's afraid he'll never find real love and that his relationships are only going to be based on lust. Also : "Though we live in the same city, You live in another state far away from me " They are physically close but they're not really there for each other. One of my favorite tracks off the new cd! |

| Rufus Wainwright – Oh What a World Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think the pause after 'straight men' is more of a comedic pause. Especially live. | |
| The Killers – This River Is Wild Lyrics | 19 years ago |

z4chm0rris - he isn't saying 'Mary' he's saying 'merry'. As in, the people at the circus are making sure everyone is happy. And also playing on the phrase merry-go-round. Also I agree that Adam and atom is also a pun but the boy's name is Adam. This is one of my favorite songs off Sam's Town, even though the whole thing is amazing. |

| The Killers – When You Were Young Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I don't think 'christian rock shit' is what they're going for, but religion is a struggle for a lot of people like in All These Things That I've Done. And (I think) in this song Jesus is used as a common reference for a loving man. I don't think Brandon meant him as a religious leader of any type, just a good guy. This guy who 'doesn't look a thing like Jesus' could not look like a kind guy (tattoo's and piercings by todays standards...) but he 'talks like a gentleman' which is what she thought about when she was young. |

" Always ends up in a self destructing mess probably hurting the guy pretty bad. (ie. He doesn't look a thing like Jesus But more than you'll ever know). He probably was a really good guy but she clings to this unattainable idea that is destined to destroy any relationship she enters and will never really know what she has lost. " idiotswind I hadn't thought of it like she lost him before but that does make sense, and also makes the song a lot sadder than I had taken it before. I love the new sound and hope the rest of the album is as good/even better than this song. |

| The Killers – Mr. Brightside Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
i agree w/ zeve totally because all of their cd's are supposed to relate to each other and has anyone ever noticed that when he is talking about her with another man its almost in reverse? shouldn't he take off her dress, she touch his chest, they go to bed, they smoke, she call a cab, and then he fall asleep? but he says it backwards...i could be wrong tell me what you think |
