Mike Oldfield – Nothing But Lyrics 19 years ago
A nice description of how heaven will be. "Bridge to paradise" is the second part of this song on the Earth Moving album, and makes some good contrast between heaven and the earth.

The Alan Parsons Project – Don't Let The Moment Pass Lyrics 19 years ago
It is a Parsons song, from the Freudania album. Don't know why it's so hard to dig up some info about it, though. Wikipedia does not mention it once, and googling it gives me only a slight mention in some mailing lists.

Isn't this song really titled "To one _in_ paradise"? Really good song, btw.

Alan Parsons makes a great cover of this song on their "Best of ... Live" album. A really great song!

The Alan Parsons Project – Don't Let The Moment Pass Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is saying that when you have the chance, don't let it slip away. Don't let the moment pass, 'cause you'll end up regretting that you didn't grap the chance.

Jean Michel Jarre – Oxygen Lyrics 20 years ago
Haha, very nice. :)

But seriously, this is a great song, although it's purely instrumental, with only a choir singing "do's" on a few occations.

Pink Floyd – Bike Lyrics 20 years ago
Those who think this song is just random gibberish from a crazy Syd is wrong. Nobody would write a song that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, even if they were crazy. Music is a way to express yourself, and therefore cannot express nothing (as expressing nothing would be expressing something (nothingness, that is)). As several others already has stated, this song is about a rather childish view on love and trying to impress a girl.

What fascinates me the most about this song, though, is the music. It may sound weird at first, but if you listen really closely, you'll find a lot of it making sense. It isn't all strict and bound by music-making rules like most modern music is (R&B and pop), but instead tries to "paint" the lyrics through the music. During the verse about Gerald the mouse, you can hear the piano playing a little mouse melody on top of the song, emphasizing the lyrics. Really cool. :)

That geese in the noise-part after the song really freaks me out, btw. I remember watching the "Syd Barret story" DVD, and some guy (gallagher from Oasis or something?) said that he always got really scared by that geese and thought that if music can have so much power over you, it truly had to be powerful.

And if you try to listen to it on headphones, you might get dizzy by the delay effect on Syd's voice. Just a short warning. :p

A really great song, one of my favourites.

The Alan Parsons Project – Oh Life (There Must Be More) Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is more or less totally pessimistic about life, with the bit of hope that shines through with "there must be more". I think the last three verses is about a girl who commits suicide by drowning herself or jumping from a bridge:

On the dock her soul is sinking
But her spirit longs to soar
Oh life, she cries
There must be more

A really creepy song to listen to if you are feeling a bit down, like bremner said. On my list of songs not to listen when down, this ranks a split first, together with Goodbye Cruel World (Pink Floyd) and Take the Long Way Home (Supertramp).

The Alan Parsons Project – Brother In Heaven Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is (obviously) about a guy who lost someone near to him.A brother (if you take the lyrics literally), or a friend. The first verse suggests that he went off to a war or something, but died. It's a really good song, I listen to it a lot. :)
