The Sound of Animals Fighting – There Can Be No Dispute That Monsters Live Among Us Lyrics 18 years ago
At first listen, you're right: this song is annoying and not enjoyable. But I think that, as with most new and different types of music, it is possible to develop an appreciation for it.

Most people don't like metal/hardcore. It is too noisy and angry for people, yet there are a group of people who love the stuff. Are they listening to it because it's different or do they actually enjoy it?

The same is with new music. It's hard, and I'm not saying I'm there, but it is possible to enjoy even the weirdest of songs.

And the thing is, this isn't even close to the level of "annoying" that a lot of composers are at these days. This song is actually pretty tame in that regard.

Gambith, I'm with you. FIF is my #1, mwY #2. Aaron is truly an amazing lyricist. And the music. Oh, SO GOOD!

I threw a stone down at the reflection of my image in the water and it altogether disappeared.
I burst, it shattered me like a bullet through a bottle.
And I'm expected to believe that any of this is real.

I think this is talking about the vanity of it all.

To me (Aaron probably didn't mean this) it also means the sort of dying that Christ commands. Christ is the one that penetrates us so that we shatter and all that's left is Christ.

UnnecessaryOpinion, I've been thinking a lot about that flute/dancing line, and I can't make sense of it.

In Matthew and Luke, I think Jesus is saying that "this generation" are the ones saying "We played the flute, but no one was dancing. We sang a sad song, but no one cried."

Then in the mwY song he turns the pronouns around so that Jesus is the one that's playing the flute and we're the ones that aren't dancing.

Am I reading too much into this? Is there significance to who's playing the flute/singing and who's dancing/crying?
