I think this song is about that person who you're always trying to repair things with. You try so hard to stay on good terms (and all these things that we tie together) but they just seem to keep falling away (keep unraveling apart). |

| Rise Against – Six Ways 'Till Sunday Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
Just got The Unravelling at lunch today. I haven't had a good chance to listen to it, but so far, it kicks ass, and this is really the only song I remember well.
"I miss who you were but I don't miss you."
That's my Lyric of the Week- actually, more like the lyric for yesterday and today. That person who was so awesome, so great, who you loved and who you... Who you thought loved you. But now they're different.
I always relate songs to my life- the aforementioned lyric doesn't fit well into what I percieve the rest of the song to be about, just because I think of only one person that has changed for the worse, but the way they changed is different than is mentioned in the song.
I really do like this song. "You're the new revolution, the angst filled adolescent. You fit the stereotype well."
No one wants to be a stereotype. I think Tim is trying to tell his friend with the last sentance that now his friend is simply a statistic, no longer a person, he's an image, a label. He morphs everything he does after what he think he should do in his situation.
In a lot of ways...
This song reminds me of me.
It seems like everyone else has someone to hold on to- a significant other, a really close best friend... I'm taking my friends for granted gets into the want part. Just because I DON'T have that special someone, I'm excused to be miserable. That is, of course, not the case. I bring people down because I think I'm better than them- callous on the outside. Bringing others down DOES make me feel better.
Life story in a song. This song isn't even the closest I've had to my life either... |

Good summary, Ionian, I never looked at it that way... And skatebob, too, makes sense.
I was just wondering about the video.
What is the video for Heaven Knows about?
It tells of a money exchange gone wrong. It’s never really conveyed what the exact circumstances are, but it is a deal gone bad. Tim then tries to cover up the situation and runs into the city, disappearing. The original edit of the video made a bit more sense, but was modified so it could be aired on commercial television.
Story of their career, the edited videos part. Maybe I'll look for an unedited on You Tube.
I don't understand the "money exchange" or really anything about the video... |

I was sure this song was about suicide, but what do I know, I'm just a stupid noob. -.-; I still am convinced it is. Especially "Go on to what you pretend is your life but please don't die on me..." line. It's like, fuck her, that's the final straw kind of thing... I don't know. I see... Nevermind.
Anyways the first tiem I heard this song I was ON a rooftop and it KIND OF scared the living piss outta me. When I listened to it again, with lyrics and everything, I mean REALLY listened to it, I got scared, and that's only happened for a few songs. You Will Lose Faith by NOFX and Secret by No Use for a Name. |

This was my first favorite Rise Against song.... Ever. (I bought ssotcc first, because I'm only a stupid noob). It's a beautiful song and I love the line "And still I wait with a hope inside of me...". It reminds me of the song Invincible by No Use for a Name, "And I'm crazy to think that you'll wake up and come around" because they're both about that tiny little flicker of hope, deep, deep inside your heart that everything will be okay.
It gives me the shivers, this song. |

I agree. I only have this CD and ssotcc but on both of them, the opening track seems to take a lot more from the hardcore roots than the tracks that follow them. |

Invincible. Your right about everything... I... The huge Green Day (turning to obsessive... I can tell you everything about them) I am, I thought of Long View. But I think this one it more satirical and more aimed at society and not one's need to masturbate because they simply having nothing else going on in thier life. Its like... The protagonist in this song has a house, a stable roof, and he's thinking "Why? Why do I have all this stuff? I shouldn't have it." And feels guilty and ashamed, while there's people just down the street that have it so much worse than him. He'd rather be like the man on the sidewalk, wondering if he'll make it through the next day, then be in that same confusing rut of desentizing contentment... But once again, I'm just some stupid fourteen year old. |

This song... To me its about having a friend/girlfriend/boyfriend that doesn't realize that they're pushing you to your limits and making you feel like shit, and you try to tell them but they don't care. You realize your above it, "I've learned to walk away", but still, you wonder why, and your life sucks, so you hope they're happy... I think. |

I quoted this song in my speech for school... And everyone said its one of the best points. "Your favorite song was written but you'll never know." Now if we can get Tim Deegan to win the VJ Search, maybe they might play some No Use or like... NOFX on Much Music. |

No Use For A Name have an uncanny ability to have at least a few songs from each album remind me of this chick at my school. This is one of them. She thinks she's better than her friends and tries to make herself seem like the cool loser by saying she's not. I... UGH. She thinks shes better than me. She always talks about all these bullshit stories. The last few lines- that just spoke RIGHT out to me. |

I heard it... And as I followed along with the lyrics, I was pretty sure it was about abortion. I agree with Invincible... I think that's pretty accurate... But I think the Growing Down part refers to the fact that their little unborn child will never get a chance to live or see daylight. I read a poem like that, except it wasn't as... Forward. Anyways... I still think its about abortion. But what do I know? I'm just a stupid little fourteenager. |

I heard this was a good song, but I'm not going to download it... I only have American Idiot, I got it for Christmas. My parents wouldn't let me buy CD's so all I have are the American Idiot songs, their old singles and a few random songs my friends sent me... But I got a job and I get paid ($25 - its only babysitting) next Friday and this is the first album I'm gunna buy. Then probably Nimrod, then Insomniac, then 1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours, then Warning, International Superhits, Shenanigans... I think that's all of them but I don't know. |

I heard J.A.R. committed suicide but that was probably just a stupid rumor, but it made sense when I listened to it. Its an amazing song... The lines that speak to me most are "Now I wonder bout my friend, if he gave all he could give, 'cause he lived his life like I live mine." and the whole ending part, I love it how the last word is cut off, and because I was under the impression it was about suicide I thought the last word would be "stay", and while I was listening for the first time thats what I thought it was going to say. But I guess not. Anyways ya, peace out. |

My- a girl in my class told me to download it, she is OBSESSED with Tré. Plus my friend is always singing just the end of it its hillarious. Its so BAD its funny- which I guess is why we all love Tré. Anyways yea, weird song... And then another girl in my class was singing Like a Rat Does Chese the line that goes "Nibble on my dick like a rat does cheese." and it was SOOOOOOO funny. The way my friend sings this song is so funny, she sounds just like Tré. Cept we're 13 and not stoners. No offence to Green Day or anyone but i dont think I wanna be a stoner... Like, ever. |

I know Mike wrote this song... It sounds so much like "Nobody Likes You" (well to me anyways). Does anyone know any other songs Mike wrote because I seem to really enjoy them, more than other Green Day songs.. The only songs I know he wrote are this one and Nobody Likes You (Homecoming Pt 3) because I am a poser... But yea if you knew another song that would be AWESOME |

Well since I have an account and a keyboard what the fuck might as well use it.
Since I don't get MTV in Canada, and since blink and Green Day are my favorite bands, I downloaded the MTV Diary of Pop Disater... You know, to see if all the rumors were true about them. They didn't really interact much (that makes them sound like Sims but oh well) but when they did, I dunno. GD can't hate /all/ thier music- on the Diary Billie was saying something about an acoustic song Thomas (Thomas xP) does that sounded really good.
I DO like blink... I've only heard everything from Enema up, and some Dude Ranch, probably 'cause I'm 13 and an extreme poser. But my brother, who's 16, pretty much drilled blink into my head, so yea... But then again my dad's been playing Longview since I was two. I have that bassline drilled into my head.

13 Year old = poser.
Hey, I'm 13. I've been listening to Green Day since my daddy's band covered Longview (when I was two) which I guess doesn't really count, and I guess I am a poser because I don't own nay of their CDs because my parents don't let me buy CD's because we have LimeWire. Anyways this is an awesome song, awesome cover, even though it's probably been covered 18268465874365873465873456 times. |

My dad's been in bands for 20 years, and this was the first Green Day tune he ever learned, he loves the bass line (he plays bass). My earliest memory (or one of them) is my dad playing this, when I was TWO. 1994 - I was 2.... I'll remember that bass line till I die, I promise you. |
