I think its about a person who realizes in a dream that he has been nothing but a force for unhappiness in the lives of those around him. In his dream he dies and realizes that if he has alienated everyone and if he doesn't change everyone will be happy when he's dead. |

It's totally about televangelism, in particular those late nite ministry shows targeted at us evil-doers who party all night and come home to find some fool preaching forgiveness and asking for donations. After a night of serious drug abuse its almost believable. I said almost! |

He may have donated the procedes from this song to charity, but this song sure did a lot to revive his foundering career and put him back in the spotlight. What a media whore. Hasn't had a good song since the mid eighties. |

Song is definitely anti-American. Could also be seen a symbolic reference to The Statue of Liberty (The American Woman), but at any rate song clearly has disdain for the US. |

How come no matter what the song is some ass always thinks its about heroin? I bet some douche thinks that B52's "Love Shack" is about heroin too, come on. |

I think the song is about Robert Plant having a severe case of the shits. Valhalla is his reference for his bathroom (hall of heroes) where he performs his heroic fecal acts. The "ah-ah-ah" part is him relieving of his explosive ass froth. "rebuilding ruins" is about wiping his ass and cleaning up the shotgun splatter of shit he left in the stool. |

I don't like Led Zep but this song is creative in its approach. It is clearly a very raunchy song but avoids using any foul language or cursing like so many modern artists. This is one of the only Zep songs that I can listen to. |

Song is a metaphor for a heroin trip and subsequent overdose. The countdown is the moments leading up to injecting the drug. The creapy spaced out music at the end of the countdown is the drug taking effect and altering Tom's perception. The remainder of the song is "spacy" indicating the high. At the end the trip goes wrong as Major Tom has overdosed. The Bowie song "Ashes to Ashes" does give the indication to the song's true meaning. |

I've always thought the song was about a married couple who are both cheating on each other. I always loved how he referred to the minister who officiated their wedding as "the gypsy" |

| The Presidents of the United States of America – Lump Lyrics

I think the song is about a serial killer who has dumped a victim in the swamp. He refers to her as "lump" indicating that to him she's just an object to be discarded when he's finished with her. He also indicates his feelings that she is slutty- "spent her twenties between the sheets" and stupid- "lingered last in line for brains", a view of women common to most serial murderers. |

Song is morbid. However the father isn't really crazy. Faced with starvation the father decides to do what many poor families have done in many cultures throughout history-namely kill the youngest child to save the rest of the family. It was common practice in situations like that to kill the youngest child since many children died in childhood anyway and were the least overall help to the family. In some cases the child would be eaten by the rest of the family.
Hence "pushed with all my love" indicates that he loves her but feels he has no choice. After killing her he can't live with himself and commits suicide. |

I agree. This song is definitely about a person's lifelong shame and guilt over his homosexuality. This individual most likely attended parochial school due to terms like "Father forgive me" and the ending phrase in latin which translates as:
I confess to almighty God
And to you my brothers
That I have sinned exceedingly
In thought, word, act and omission
Through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault |

| Nirvana – Heart-Shaped Box Lyrics
|
This song is clearly about a man in a relationship where he feels dominated. "Heart Shaped Box" is a metaphor for a uterus. "Forever in debt to your priceless advice" reflects the fact that she always injects her opinion whether it is wanted or not.
"She eyes me like a pisces when I am weak"-Kurt is a Pisces.
"I wish I could eat your Cancer"- Courtney is a Cancer
"Man eating orchids" - something attractive but deadly
"cut myself on angel hair and baby's breath" indicates someone who is ultra sensitive to its most absurd extreme- someone who is harmed by even the most delicate things.
"broken hymen of your highness" indicates that he has been seduced by someone he feels inferior to.
"throw down your umbilical noose" indicates that he has been trapped forever (hanged) by her giving birth to his child.
If Kurt said that this song was about children with cancer it was probably because he was afraid of Courtney. It is clearly about him and Courtney and how dominated and inadequate he feels. |

| Jem – 24 Lyrics

This song is about someone on death row during their last day before execution. The narrator is being consulted by a member of the clergy and is asking god for forgiveness in the line "I need your blessing". It is clearly not a natural death that the narrator is facing due to the phrase: "been given 24 hours". She knows they excact time she has left. The narrator can't believe the way they she wasted her life and can only hope for salvation. "I'm not alone, I sense it" reflects the growing desparate belief that god is with her. |
