It's about once-famous bands selling out (when they said they'd never sell out) their music. AC/DC Areosmith and Foriegner come to mind. Money is too much to live without. Motley Crue Etc. He doesn't want to be in this class of artists. Unfortunately, his cover of "Easy" is now the track for a jeans commercial. |

She quit this relationship, and hooked up with another guy. This guy killed & buried her man. Now he's taunting her. |

Young boy caught up in the prison system, threatened daily by some fucking asshole who talks smooth, trying to take him under his wing... finally he reaches the end of his rope. When attacked, he'll kill. |

Another deeply moving, deeply disturbing song from the Toadies. This song is one of my top five of all time, of any band, any time. My take isn't much different from most of yours; I imagine a guy working day-to-day with a girl he has become obsessed with, at a gas station maybe, and likely close to the USA/Mexico border. She smiles at him politely every day, but he takes her smile as a secret invitation. He hears that she is planning a trip to Mexico and serupticiously finds out where she plans to stay. Then he carries out his fantasy, believing this is what she wanted all along.. |

| Faith No More – The Gentle Art Of Making Enemies Lyrics | 20 years ago |

When I hear this song I think of blood-thirsty execs (Hollywood, maybe?) kiss-assing and stepping over the bodies of their weak cohorts on the way to the top... and then they reach the point of no return, where they find the one all-mighty asshole laughing at them and promising they'll NEVER reach the top. I imagine this told from two views: those of the protagonist and the laughing ruler. |

I dunno about the Madonna thing (but the quote can be found at http://www.fnm.com/faq/ (hit CTRL+F and type in 'Madonna')), but this part seems to support that: "You're perfect yes, it's true But without me you're only you" Seems to say 'without your fame and your fans, you're just a schmuck like the rest of us' |
