Red Hot Chili Peppers – One Big Mob Lyrics 20 years ago
I understand most of it, but I still don't have a clue what "Ek Bara Mala" means. Anybody care to translate or identify what language it stems from?

Saves the Day – Rise Lyrics 20 years ago
In my opinion, In Reverie IS their best CD so far in that it showcases an incredible amount of musical sensitivity and technique. Anybody can write a four chord electric love song and win the hearts of emo kids all over the country; it takes the mind of a true musician to come up with the beauty that makes up In Reverie. Just accept it for the unique work of art that it is instead of hating them for maturing.

Saves the Day – Monkey Lyrics 20 years ago
I think this song is about emotional decay and internal conflict. Something obviously happened in his mind to make him feel like something was wrong, and the lyrics seems to be about him forcing himself to stop crying and become cold and insensitive like everyone else.

Long story short, Chris is whipping himself into submission with his own heartless words.

Coldplay – Low Lyrics 20 years ago
I don't think this song is so much about somebody pessimistic as it is somebody who is painfully logic in their thinking and too stubborn to change their outlook. The lyrics imply that this person is dragging the writer down with them in their bleak perspective of the world, and I almost get a sense of anger from it all.

The main message I get is, "You look at the world in such a cut-and-dry sort of way, and if you could just see it for the beauty that it truly is, your life would have so much more meaning."

Coldplay – Swallowed in the Sea Lyrics 20 years ago
This is definitely one of my favorites on the X&Y album. Much like the hidden track, "Kingdom Come", this song carries a great deal of power and meaning behind it's seemingly simplistic outer shell. Amazing.

As far as the lyrics go, I haven't picked up on any kind of symbolism in the text. Along with the gradual crescendo of the song, I think the lyrics, aside from the beginning, speak for themselves as each verse increases in strength.

Along with the idealistic theme that appears in all of their songs, I think "Swallowed in the Sea" is a reflection of the writer's love for an individual that had a powerful impact on their life.

I get the feeling that the writer realized something about himself as a result of this person's words, actions, and lifestyle, and if, as you say, this person died, then "Swallowed in the Sea" is almost like a "thank you" that the writer never got a chance to say. The text also conveys how much he misses this person and wants to have them back, which adds even more strength to the music. I love it.

The only part I haven't understood is the beginning verse:

"You cut me down a tree and brought it back to me, and that's what made me see where I was going wrong.
You put me on a shelf and kept me for yourself. I can only blame myself, you can only blame me."

I don't think it's symbollic of a letter or a picture or anything, but I'd love to know what those lines meant.

Thanks for your time.
