| Hot Hot Heat – Middle of Nowhere Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song is totally about the band going on tour. "I haven't slept a single night in over a month" - On tour "They chewed me up and then they spit me out And I'm not supposed to let it bother me" - concert goers/magazine/newspaper reviews The girl is perhaps his girlfriend or his best friend whom he likes and she waits for him "at the door where everybody's hanging out just like they hung out before" Maybe the local theatre where he used to play? (maybe a dedicated grpupie even) And she's fed up with him being gone all the time but still sticks it out for him even though she doesn't have to. I saw them in concert a couple days ago. They were really nice and really awesome. And when I met the lead singer his tired eyes seemd to validate my feelings about this song. |

| John Mayer – Not Myself Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I'm in a relationship with somebody who is bipolar. I never really understood this song until we started spending more time around eachother and he would tell me what it was like in his mind sometimes. One day he went, "I worry I'm going to do something to scare you away." "Suppose I said I am on my best behavior," really hit me hard because this person I really care for is trying his hardest to be on his 'best behavior' for me and himself and his family. But there are still times when I don't even recognize him - he's so down or whatever - but it always gets better. "Wait it out while I am someone else." Perhaps this is the anthem of anybody with a mental illness. |

| Beck – Farewell Ride Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Oh man, I like the coccaine theory but I always though it was him getting executed. You know, tied up on a horse, being led to the ole lynching tree, a mob behind him. If I were a music video director that's what I'd do. | |
| The Guess Who – Follow Your Daughter Home Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Haha, my dad always sings this song the morning after I come home late. | |
| Finger Eleven – One Thing Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I used to think he got his girl pregnant. He'd have to give up his whole life for that baby. | |
| Elliott Smith – A Fond Farewell Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I always thought (but because I'm so naive I hadn't picked up the drug-user bits) that this was a farewell to a friend of his that commited suicide. You know, "This is not my life...ect." Of course I'm aware that he took his own life. |

| Tim McGraw – Please Remember Me Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I think of my Papa everytime I hear this song. He passed away a little while ago and he'd be saying this to us. Go on with your life but please remember me. | |
| Sarah Slean – Sweet Ones Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Oh dear, I thought it was about a prostitute. Or prostitution in general. | |
| The White Stripes – Jolene (Dolly Parton cover) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Wow, I totally thought Olivia Newton John was the original singe rof this song. | |
| Josh Ritter – Kathleen Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Oh my gosh, I was just going to comment on how great it would be to see Josh Ritter live as well. BUT THEN I realized that I have seen him live but it was when I didn't care because I was too excited to see the person her was opening for. He was pretty fantastic though. |

| Nickel Creek – When You Come Back Down Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I've always wondered if this song is being sung to someone becoming famous and going out on the road and performing and whatnot. Or not. |

| Nickel Creek – The Lighthouse's Tale Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
This song is, to me, a very nice interpretation of the myth of 'Hero and Leander'. Hero and Leander is a Greek myth. Hero was a priestess of Aphrodite who dwelled in a tower in Sestos, at the edge of the Hellespont. Leander, a young man from Abydos, on the other side of the strait, fell in love with her, and he would swim every night across the Hellespont to be with her. Hero would light a lamp every night at the top of her tower, to guide his way. Succumbing to Leander's soft words, and to his argument that Aphrodite, as goddess of love, would scorn the worship of a virgin, Hero allowed him to make love to her. But one stormy winter night, the waves tossed Leander in the sea and the breezes blew out Hero's light, and Leander lost his way (but some say he thought Hero had let the light go out and he just gave up), and was drowned. Hero had fallen asleep and was certain that it was her fault the light went out and thus threw herself from a tower in grief and died as well. Pretty good comparison I think. |

| Jimmy Rankin – Followed Her Around Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| It took me so long to realize that he was talking about a prostitute. | |
| Sarah Harmer – Lodestar Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Oh my goodness, tubesocks, are you Sarah herself? I looked up the meaning of 'Lodestar' and came up with the whole 'guiding light' thing but I also got some sort of belief or moral. When I met her in October I asked her what she meant by 'lodestar' and she said, well, basically what you said. She also said it was a good clothes dryer. |
