this song is obviously a love song. but to me, it's about losing a best friend to another friend. I feel that way lately. My best friend ditched me for another one of my best friends. yeah, so this meaning is going to be TOTALLY different from what everyone has. but this is how i see it. a girl with an eating disorder. i mean, the name, Two Zero Two, indicating the clothes sizes (when you have anorexia you go down and up a little bit). "What’s this odd game that’s all over the airwaves? It’s their loose lips that laid me so sick with and ear pinned down on your chest…" the odd game would be the celebrities being so thin, and the media saying how wonderful it is, not thinking about the impact it has on young girls. "And all I heard were sighs from that shotgun that she hides so well under that dress" she's hiding her disorder under a dress (they tend to wear baggier clothes to hide it) "Does that dress fit alright? I wanna know why it falls off and on" her dress is big and falling off, then she pulls it up so that no one will notice. "But I’m just not ready to rot and dance and laugh to the sweetest death I ever had…" everyone else is havinga great time, but she is not. she is starving (sweetest death) and not ready to do anything "I’ve got glass eyes that has dined so many times with thighs and sighs that scream I got to get mine..." her eyes want the food, along with her thighs that are weak. sorry if that seemed kind of morbid, but thats what it looks like to me. |
