| Woody Guthrie – Pastures Of Plenty Lyrics

I can't believe nobody's commented. This song seems to be about the life of a migrant worker during the depression. it seems to sort of get at the essence of existence you know? I mean, think about a world without the migrant workers? There would be no food, and yet the migrant workers were and still are kind of the lowest of the low in terms of status, as well as wages and benefits.
The reason why I like this song so much is that it is such a simple song. it is like the most minimalistic song there can be, and yet it's so incredibly good. It is only as complicated as it needs to be to be an enjoyable song. |

I wish I could tell what this song is about, but I can't, however it is amazing in more than a few ways, enough, infact, to put me in a rap mood, which is weird 'cause I don't normally like rap too much
basically: awesome song. |

Most of the time, I haven't had trouble with cops or anything. I guess I don't get in trouble much. but every now and then something really sick happens. I heard some pretty sick first-hand accounts of police brutality during the Republican National Convention protests... |

I also think that this song is about social injustice. I mean, it's pretty clear. to me anyways.

i think lecavelier's english class is right about the meaning. if they are then it's also really fucking clever. i love it either way. i also like the song that kanye west wrote with a remix of this in the background |

I love this song so much. at any given moment that you listen to it, something extremely blunt and obscene will be playing. it's wonderful. |

This makes me think of the wars between the christians and the norse too. that's my interperatation. I also just have to say that it's a fucking insanely epic song. like, holy shit. so dramatic. perfect way to end the album. and I love how it builds up to the "i will walk with you again part" so dramatically. I love this song. very well orchestrated. |

This song demonstrates some of the non-technical skill that few but Jimi possessed. The song blends with the lyrics in a way that's absolutely fascinating and incredible! not to mention the immense technical skill present as well as the amount of soul put into this presentation. It's also hypnotic, and relaxing. I can listen to this song several times in a row without getting tired of it. that's pretty sweet for 12 minutes. |

to further my earlier point think about the line:
"Well, we went downtown and we sat in the rain
Both looking one direction and waiting for a train
And thought over, thought over"
to me this is saying that they've been through the hard times of being a indie band, and don't really want to go back. you can kind of apply almost all of the lines to what i was saying though |

| Modest Mouse – A Manic Depressive Named Laughing Boy Lyrics

judging by his earlier songs alone, Isaac Brock does seem possibly bipolar (manic depressive) to me, not to mention bipolar people tend to turn to drugs alot of the time., and like Positive negative seems like a very good example of the extreme depression associated with bipolar depressive cycles and enhanced creativity is associated with bipolar mania. i have a friend who's bipolar, and i know a few other bipolar people, so i know a bit about it. also it is important to note that being manic depressive implies cycles of extreme highs and extreme lows like someone said earlier, not just really bad depression. |

i believe in Spitting venom it's slightly dif. as in "Well, you were talkin' soda pop.
You talk it quite a lot." rather than "people talk in soda pop, they talk it quite alot"
it's cool though |

this song really impressed me the first time i heard it. i was with my brother and shortly after the heavy part started, we were just like "wow, i didn't know they still had the ability to write songs this good!"
anyway, i was reading through the previous replies and one posibility from them really struck me. that this song might be about mouse's career, and how they're being condemned for selling out and whatnot, and Isaac seems to be saying that you know "i didn't really even know that there was an argument with us, but if so, you win. i don't really care"
also, further reading pointed out that there are alot of callback's to earlier songs by the band, even just being 8m long like the good old long jams of the earlier years (like "Edit the Sad Parts" among others.)
and, i don't know about this, but maybe the last lines about the antidote have to do with the earlier influences in the song itself. that might be taking the idea too far though.
like all modest mouse songs, however, it has more than one meaning, or rather can be taken as a metaphor for many different things |

Dreadnought is right about the 80% of all in flames songlyrics.... so true... but they do make good points within those 80% the human race DOES suck, we DO need to reroute to remain...
as for the meaning of this song per se, thematically it rather follows that trend, and i agree with TheRedJester it's about our corperate society ruled by money...the Goliaths controlling everything unfairly. In Flames = Socialists.
and oh how i wish i wasn't from the US... *dreams of sweden*
anyway, that's my input... |

| In Flames – Dawn Of A New Day Lyrics

i don't really know, but i've liked alot of the thoughts so far. perhaps it could have to do with a bit of a change to their style of music, though i'm sure that's not all it means. there's boundless levels of depth to most in flames songs
furthermore i've always liked the softer songs and the heavier songs. i don't think in flames would be nearly as good without the variety. this is one of my favorite songs on Reroute, though i'm not partial to the album for the most part |

actually, i think i have discovered the meaning. it is an expression of yearning for the simplicity of the days of old, like in the ancient towns of the northmen. i would not be surprized if he also realized how dangerous this is, but he wishes to go back to the days of old anyway... sorry if that wasn't really the meaning |

| In Flames – Episode 666 Lyrics
|
within the concept, this is sortof the end-factor in the time-line...it relates to religeon pretty clearly i mean 'episode 666' kinda makes that clear, as 666, the number of the beast, was part of revalations, a book of the bible commonly associated with the apocalypse.
it, however can also refer, like many other songs, to the media, or some other form of authority.
basically, the curruption in religeon, media, government, military, etc. will be the cause of Ragnarok, and that's i guess sort of what this song is about. |

| In Flames – Moonshield Lyrics

i was comparing some of my own lyrics, just now, with these, because i was clearly very influenced by this song, instrumentally and lyrically, in the writing of the lyrics, and i asked my friend, "know, these lyrics sound suspiciously like those of moonshield," and he was like "yeah, they're both about sacrificing the material world for informal knowledge"
so there's a thought, though i still think either the_moonshield, or Ddadutta is right |
