| Disco Ensemble – Invisible Ink Lyrics | 19 years ago |

wo no-one has comented on any of the disco ensemble stuff! this song i feel means a few different things 1 - the way that men dont understand the way us girls work... 'we dont feel like girls do' and 'cursing the gender/cursing it for its temper'. this guys girl has got really angry with him, and he doesnt understand quite what the problem is - maybe the problem is this second reason... 2. 'I wrote your name on the wall/with blood red aerosol...' and 'i carved your name on every tree/in the whole wide world...' i think this means that the guy wants everyone to know how much he loves this girl - he wants to tell everyone. But maybe she wants it kept a secret, or just doesnt want it broadcast everywhere. perhaps that is why he goes on to sing about invisible ink. I think he feels a bit bitter, maybe she is ashamed of him - but he wants everyone to know! i think the last phrase could be a bit of a dig at the girl, he says he wont scream it out - altho he still loves her. |

ahh this new single is amazing. to me this song seems like it is a comversation in a partnership from one person to the other. It sounds like the person singing feels like something isnt right in the relationship..."Youve got a hold right through my chest" - but there is still an attraction between them "Magnetic - there's static in our skin" - like its unavoidable? such a good song -- im seeing them at 100 club 4th april! tis gonna b amazing |

but there is a happier point at the end of the song which people havent mentioned.. "And go Go ahead and destroy this Better come with an army Are you feeling, feeling okay, baby?" The guy is letting her go, she will leave but the whole thing wont upset/"destroy" him - maybe she is shocked that he doesnt seem upset where the line "Are you feeling, feeling okay, baby?" comes in -- i can imagine the guy smiling here. like hes almost 'caught her out/unexpected' because hes not showing his upset |

| Cake – Dime Lyrics | 20 years ago |

Was just listening to the song, and an idea popped into my head. To me this song is about being happy with who you are -- Im not american but i gather that a dime isnt worth very much at all "not enough for a local phonecall..." but the song isn't depressing, this 'person' is happy with being who they are and are not going to let others get them down "Not to be dented by a car, by a plane, or anything Not yet invented" cars planes etc perhaps could be referring to people with more money or a higher status etc. He is happy to sit in the background... "In the hiss and rumble of the freeway sounds As the afternoon commuters drive their cars around There's a ringle-jingle near the underpass There's a sparkle near the fast food garbage And roadside trash" ...and live his life. |
