Well, I once posted a meaning, but I'reread the lyrcis and a new meaning came to me... Could it be about... AIDS?!? Someone with AIDS telling someone else that he/she has AIDS? And trying that someone not fell sory for him... |

I could swear that in the accoustic version Kurt says "Steal the life that's inside of me". Anyway, is a great metaphor: Stealling the life that's inside of him, just like it steals the life inside women who want to abort, using Pennyroyal Tea. Since the first time I heard this song, I think it's a song where Kurt is mocking himself: an anemic royalty! |

Your approach to the song is great, killab. To be honest, the first time i tried to really understand this song, the theme Jesus came to my mind. But after a while, it became too bovious, and I tried a diferent approach: a sarcastic song about losers. Even if it may be too obvious for a Bush song, i believe your understanding on the song is probably the most correct one. Also, your ideas are very well explained. BTW, don't you want to write what you think about "Synapse"? It's probably my favorite song of all times. Thanks. |

This song, which I consider to be the best song of Bush and one of the greatest of all times, is highly underated by non-real-fans. I think this song is about drugs. "casting a stone from your hand" clearly sounds like picking yourself with a heroin or other shit needle. In a way, you get to be stoned from something you cast from your hand... Also, the Razorblade suitcase, is something some high class junkies (really!) use to keep the spoons, needles, pipes, and other stuff they use to get high. Also, it seems Gavin (or the guy in the song) doesn't mind to look like a human rag if the drugs get him to forget the bad things in his life... |

| Yep. Seems he is talking with himself, all the song. The depressed guy is talking to his conscience, seeing himself in the mirror. Possibly this is an autobiographic song. I once heard that Gavin was deeply in drugs during a phase of his career. | |

Seems like a parody about losers, those kind of losers who do stupid stuff to be accepted, and act or try to act like Supermen so other people notice them; "Crucified for atonal sins re-invent myself Shed my alter-skin Tried to break the mould" In this part seems that the guy was "crucified" for something he did, and he is trying to change to please other people. (right now I just read a sentence that I didn't remember, which supports my theory: "And you only know how to lose") Also, it seems the guy seeks approval from society for everything he does - with the aim to be a superman! Dificult to put it in writing... Great, great song, anyway!!! |
