| Red Hot Chili Peppers – I Could Have Lied Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| what i really like about this song in the contrast in volume between the loud and soft parts... it captures that feeling where your just sitting thinking about something that bothers you and you have the sudden urge just to scream. | |
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Cabron Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| though i understand the whole gang thing it seems to me like he is comparing his lover to a member of a rival gang when they fight and saying that he wants a truce | |
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Porcelain Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this song reminds me of a little porcelain doll who's owner has grown up and doesn't want it anymore so the doll feels like it is fading away. | |
| The Moody Blues – Melancholy Man Lyrics | 19 years ago |

i believe that this song starts off fairly straightforward by explaining the characer of the narrator. In my opinion the whole when all the stars are falling down part is tellin us that he dies then the beam of light is like his life flashing before his eyes and he describes watching himself when he was alive and didnt know all the things he knows now its an odd interpretation but its my personal opinion so whatever |

I believe this song is more crucial to the story of ziggy stardust then most people give it credit for. This terrible news about the inevitable end of all that we have come to build, know, and love sets the world into panic. It is this panic and drastic search for answers that allows the prophetic words of ziggy stardust to be so widely listened to, thus shoving him into the unimaginable fame that eventually destroys him. I believe that the cop, priest, and gay line only is meant to show that in times of uncertainty the law or those in power turn to religion and faith for answers, while others instead put their faith in humanity, and themselves to solve their problems. This is one of my favorite bowie songs. I love the intro and ending with the drums. I love how much passion and feeling he packed into his voice, giving the illusion that he is actually experiencing it. I love how this song expresses so well the total chaos. It does this not only lyrically but musically, by packing so many sounds into the same time. It really reminds me of a day in the life by the beatles in this respect. |

| David Bowie – The Width of a Circle Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I could be totally, completely, and utterly incorrect on this but my interpretation is thus: In the begining the narrator does not follow god or get along with him for various reasons, such as that gods path is too straight and narrow, while the narrator wants to be different. He finally sees himself however as a monster. He is in disbelief until he asks a blackbird which tells him to love others if he wants to be forgiven (Kahlil Gibran wrote that redemption is possible through love). So he tried to forgive and love everyone else including god. But instead of following through he fornicates with a prostitute. He then meets god who shows him the consequences of his actions (the leather belt around his hips could be for lashing sinners) and then he drops him into hell where he meets the devil. In the end he is angry. HE goes on to say how there is a guiard to hell waiting to let you pass as well. I believe that the drums at the very end emphasize this point because they sound like a slave driver. Like I said I probably am wrong but this is my opinion anyways. |

| David Bowie – Ziggy Stardust Lyrics | 19 years ago |

this song may be about himself, vince taylor, and all the 60's rockstars but i believe it has a special emphasis on jimi hendrix becasue of the left hand as well as the line saying "jiving us that we were voodoo" which may refer to jimi's song voodoo child maybe I really dont believe that it can be credited to any one person however |

| Bob Dylan – It Ain't Me Babe Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
one thing i find interesting in this song is that in the lines: Go lightly from the ledge, babe, Go lightly on the ground. I'm not the one you want, babe, I will only let you down. when he says will only it makes the same sound as lonely. If this was on purpose, i kinda think it may have been, then he is probily displaying his own emotions at the time. This fits whether u believe n the 60s generation or the woman or what ever becasue he is different thus making him lonely. |

| Bob Dylan – Bye and Bye Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| dylan uses some cool things in these lyrics, the words bye and bye (or by and by) really have a double meaning and either one fits. I also like how dylan uses the literal meaning of being on time as sitting on a watch. When he says walking on briars he most likely means he has fallen upon hard times and it is hard to continue on. During the part of the song where he says he is rolling slow.... he is ina state of denial about his love and when he is goign to where the wild roses grow he probily means he is returning to being single which is a more wild state. In the end of these lyrics i think that he burns or simply murders his old lover so she cant love anyone else which makes the last line really ironic. This is a neat song anf is sertinly open for otehr interpretations. | |
| The Doors – The End Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| hey big easy, if u really dislike jim morrison as much as you do then you are showing your own immense level of patheticness by taking your time to come on a doors song and type all of your immature comments out. If you dont like it then dont listen to it and dont talk about it. Anfd while your at it grow up | |
| Bob Dylan – Tomorrow Is a Long Time Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
i absolutely love this song especially the whole sunset, rain bow and beauty in loves eyes part. It is a sing about a man who misses a girl and is falling apart without her. In the first verse he is probily talking about himself and how he is traveling and lonsome without his girl. when he says I'd lie in my bed once again bed is symbolic for a place of comfort and safety so he wont be comfortable and happy with out her. The second verse is about how he is falling apart without her and he is sick becasue she is not with him. The last verse is about remembering his girl and how he finds beauty in only her. |

| Bob Dylan – A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i think this song was written about the cuban missle crisis as previously stated but can be applied to bringing truth into the open in any case | |
| Bob Dylan – Lay Lady Lay Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Cavern is right and it part of it is written in 3rd person for politeness. As for the whole clothes dirty hands clean thing, that means that he works hard (thats why his clothes are dirty) but is honarable and does honest good work and would never sheat on her (thus the clean hands are symbolic) | |
| Neil Young – Down By The River Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
it is either a song about a guy who shot his old girl to be with a new one, but the new one is alarmed by this and he tries to comfort her, or it is about a man who went sort of insane and shot his wife then continues to try to talk to her or comunicate with her. First Theory:Be on my side, I'll be on your side, baby There is no reason for you to hide It's so hard for me staying here all alone When you could be taking me for a ride. (this sounds to me like a man trying to comfort a woman about something and later he talks about shooting his woman) Second Theory: just a possibility but when he is trying to comfort the woman he could be trying to comfort the girl he already shot (obviously he would have to be insane because she is already dead but he can imagine her spirit or something) |

| Kaiser Chiefs – Saturday Night Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
i agree with dropsof that it is about drugs. It is about smoking, doing drugs, getting into fights and thinking it is cool and the only way to have fun C-c-c-creosote Is pouring out of my brain I swear I heard the floorboards they were creaking your name this is a reference to inhaling creosote. Matching jackets and a fist full of notes New sneakers and a fresh pack of smokes the notes refered to here are either money or doobies that are not yet rolled, personally i believe it is the drug one since that seems to be the overwelming point of this song. P-p-p-pneumothorax is a word that is long They’re just tryin’ to put the punk back into punctured lung pneumothorax is a bunch of gas in a cavity of the lung that results from either injuring the luing or a treatment for tuberculosis which of course is caused by smoking. So it could be a reference to smoking or to getting hurt (possibly on the motorcycle mentioned previously in the song) It’s not the size of the man in the fight I wanna know what that does, I wanna show you what matters ‘Cos it’s the size of the fight in the man that makes the difference and decides who is champ Cut through the city on a Saturday Night Cos you and me are on the edge of a knife this refers to fighting and the last line probily is meant to show that they are out looking for a fight, or it could be broadend to mean living on the edge and taking drugs and smoking. |
