| Dave Matthews Band – Raven Lyrics | 19 years ago |

let me start off by saying anyone who has referenced god in this song as the father is completely oblivious to not only what the song is saying, but to what they themselves are saying. the common and obvious subject at hand is "truth". one person (an "older man") is speaking to another ("young man") about life and what he has. he tries to give him advice not to screw it up or do things he will regret, cause it's virtually impossible to undo them, it is stated the old man knows from experience. what i'd like to believe the old man is here is just a metaphor for any kind of wisdom, and the young man represents the youth and innocence in any person in the world. truth comes into when the old man asks the young man what he's "got in his hand" this is very important cause a flood of themes comes rushing out from these statements. first off the fact that the old man couldn't find the truth before now is because he has not been as wise as previous thought, and after getting into some troubles has sheltered his life, instead of living it like the young boy is doing. dave is saying you can't just sit inside and twist the truth to where you know it, you have to find it. this is where i found everyone else comments to be improbable. if they believe that the father is god, why would he stand "twisting" the truth. shouldn't god, first off KNOW the truth, second why would he twist it. now mid statement i may see where they have a point, because i'm coming to the realization that he may very well be god, since often times in religion the truth is twisted to fit their point of view. this makes sense cause this is very much what dave is talking about, changing the truth to fit your point of view, it just doesn't work. i think the bloody hand, gun, open, and shut down references perfectly display that there is a blur in reality, between viewpoints, and you can twist the truth to fit your view, but it's not gonna be the right one. "Never know it all", goddamn right. viceking shrugged, walked away the people above stood and watched that viceking dissapearing viceking just walked away the people above stood there twisting. |

| Gnarls Barkley – Smiley Faces Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| personally i love how he says "And oh yeah, take a little pain just in case." Brilliant. Can't just be all smiles, haven't to experience the pain, just to know the beauty of your own smile, know what you're smiling about. Great to not smile just for the sake of smiling, but for the sake of feeling good. | |
| Incubus – Anna Molly Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i think the ships passing is everyone, not just the ladies. i mostly think of friends though cause he says "a thousand ships come and sail me back from distress" and i know if i've had a rough ending or a killed relationship, my friends bail me out and bring me back from downsville. also the thousand reference makes me think he's maybe refering to the fans in such a large number too, but that's stretching it a bit. | |
| Tool – Lipan Conjuring Lyrics | 19 years ago |

It's because Tool enjoys putting random stuff on their album (Harry Manback, Die Eir Von Satan, (-) Ions, Faaip de Oiad) I think it's something they enjoy musically but at the same time like their own style of comedy. |

| Dredg – Ode to the Sun Lyrics | 20 years ago |

first off, it's "please accept this honor" listen for an f sound, you won't find it. I think he's talkign about a situation that has gone wrong (light to gray), relationship, alcoholism, etc. take your pick. but he's saying he will help the person get over whatever it is with this "ode" he is dedicating to them. i think he's saying he's dedicating himself to help get them past it or make them feel better. They are the sun to him, the one important thing, and he feels it is just and right to do this, and that he owes them everything ("my heart, i owe you, my soul") so the least he can do is this. As for the crash part, this i believe he is using as a metaphor for how things are going...not so well. "Fiasco!" describes it well. the passing motorists are all those people that seem to look at them while they are in trouble for their own amusement, interest, whatever, but aren't really planning to help whatsoever. They are just there to watch and not help. However he's telling the person that they "already glistened through the window" meaning they don't have to look good here to prove anything to anybody, they don't have to mask anything because everyone already knows that they are a good person. This all ties in with the "Transcend" because he's asking them or better yet telling them to transcend into a better situation. |

| System of a Down – Question! Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I think that first of all this band is spiritual, not necessarily christian (cause remember they are arab) and CAO, i heard God needs his ass kissed a little bit more. i believe the berry reference is an allusion and a symbol maybe for the apple in the adam and eve story (which could be the two ghosts). it doesn't really matter what fruit it is, they point is it's symbolic of an enlightening experience in which in this case the person becomes more aware of life, and perhaps death. he saying that they are two ghosts no different from you in that they are human and because they had this enlightening experience they now have an afterlife as well. that is where the "ghosts are now waiting for you all" comes in. because these berries were eaten, everyone must have an afterlife, everyone becomes a ghost, there is no permanent life before death. the rest is very simply the ever burning question for what is beyond death. also right before the first long scream right after the "where do we go when we die" serj quietly says "we'll be alright". quite noticably the best song on the new cd by far, though they are all good, but this one just kicks so much ass on so many levels! | |
