| Chromeo – Needy Girl Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Um, the whole thing is wrong. Here are the real lyrics. Wanna be yourself and no one else - Alright (Al-Al-Al-Alright) And you wanna go out, wanna scream and shout - Tonight (To-To-To-Tonight) You want some space, like get out of my face - Alright (Al-Al-Al-Alright) And you want me back; put your life on track - Tonight (To-To-To-Tonight) Chorus : You're a needy girl, I can tell when I look in your big brown eyes. You want my world, but how can I do yours if I can't do mine? I try to change, but somehow it's weird I dont feel the same. It's all about what you want, what you say, how you feel, how you play the game. You're a needy girl- and you want my world. I try to change. But it's not the same. Telephone rings [Hello? Hey what's up baby. Yeah, I'm in the studio right now- I'll call you later. Nah, I really can't talk right now. I'll just call you back, alright? I can't talk right now, I'll just call you later. Yo, what? Yo, I can't - look - yo, whatever.] When you're home alone, you don't answer the phone - Alright (Al-Al-Al-Alright) But it's like a crime if I don't answer mine - Tonight (To-To-To-Tonight) So you've found a man, and he is more than a friend - Alright (Al-Al-Al-Alright) But you still call me for some TLC - Tonight (To-To-To-Tonight) Chorus : You're a needy girl, I can tell when I look in your big brown eyes. You want my world, but how can I do yours if I cant do mine? I try to change, but somehow it's weird i dont feel the same. It's all about what you want, what you say, how you feel, how you play the game. You're a needy girl. And you want my world. I try to change. But its not the same. |

| Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| The "two lost souls" line is something I think about everytime I see my best friend from high school. That you and that one other person will always be floating around each other in some way- your own little world- even if you don't see them very often you still wish they were around. I'm sure Rodger still feels a connection with Syd, no matter how much he changed from doing all that acid. They must have really loved him to write so many songs about him. In some ways, Syd contributed to the band more after he left- he was their inspiration for many songs. I've heard people comment on other songs that Syd was of no importance, and that PF's music didn't get good until he left anyway, but I think that is very untrue. What they went through with Syd made them write some of their best songs- this one in particular. I think of Syd as Pink Floyd's muse in a straight jacket. | |
| Bruce Hornsby – Mandolin Rain Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I love this song soooooo much. I saw Hornsby play with the remaining members of the Dead (he actually played piano with them for a stint when Garcia was alive) and he was AMAZING! There were as many Hornsby fans in the crowd as Dead Heads. Also, I'm pretty sure that the lyric is always "Listen to the tears ROLL"(not "flow") the whole time, not just at the end of the song. | |
| Prince – Purple Rain Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I love this song because I think the 2nd verse is stunning. It's the only verse in any song that I've heard that made me go "Yep. That is exactly how I feel right now." In college I had a short fling with a guy who I later became good friends with. Years later, we had one more lusty encounter. Two weeks later, he started dating this girl who made him stop talking to me because of it. ( she also made him quit talking to all his other friends too- but that's a whole other song) Prince said in 4 line what I wish I had the ability to tell that guy now. I still miss his friendship; what happened between us wasn't worth loosing him over; and I would never do anything to sabatoge what he has going- I respect his choices, even if I don't agree with them. If only I could pull of purple velvet, lace, pumps, and a geri curl like Prince then maybe I could win my ex friend over. But alas, I cannot. | |
| Pinback – BBTone Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I think this song is about surfing. If you listen to the song with that in mind it all makes sense. Walls closing, ceiling falling- its all about being trapped in a wave. It sound like he surfs to escape from himself. Surfing can be a punnishing sport, and I really like the referance to Sisipus- (the guy who had to push the boulder up the hill, only to have it roll back down right before he reached the top- for all of eternity.- Greek mythology) Surfers are always looking for the perfect ride- something they may never find, no matter how skilled they are or how often they try. The ocean punishes them, and they always come back for more. Small sucesses for huge efforts. I love Pinback because they write about the stuff no one else does, and they do it with pure poetry. Maybe my answer is too obvious- but I don't think this song is about depression at all- I think it's about trying to reach a seemingly unattanable perfection- and enjoying the process even if you get beat up along the way. | |
