A guy is getting on a plane to attend his ex's wedding. And regret hits him. -"I can't believe you asked me that, or course I dont believe in fate"; I assume she at one point shortly before the wedding asked him if this is how things were supposed to be. -"Would you be depressed? If I attend that wedding, but only as a guest Such an unfaithful bride draped in dress Spun with threads of my regret" ; At one point in their past relationship they must have meant to get married. So now he wants to know how she is going to feel when he is at her wedding only as a guest and not the groom himself. They must have hooked up recently before this plane ride cheating on her now fiance. I'm assuming that is when she asked him about fate. The lyric about threads of my regret, meaning he should have held onto her, and he should be marrying her. -"So arch your back And flip your hair Make eye contact so you know I care You know I care"; I can take this as two ways. Either an obvious moment from when they were hooking up, with him looking down on her. Or as in while she is actually at the ceremony, to stand straight, and make eye contact with him in the audience once. Just my thoughts. Derek |

My thoughts on the song; I believe this song is about someone who is in love with someone they cant be with. He is now depressed without her. The beginning part speaks of him not wanting to start the day. To lay in bed in darkness and not deal with anything. But then he finds all he has is thoughts and they bother him so he gets up anyways. He wishes they could have started months earlier when there was still time. And now he can't find the right words or a way to say them to fix the situation. So he looks back on days he could have done something to be with this person. But now he must accept his loss, and it makes sense to him. |
