| Purity Ring – Belispeak Lyrics | 10 years ago |

I think a lot of these comments are really great! I have a slightly less dismal theory about the meaning, I think is a little more straightforward. The lyrics give no indication of abuse or murder. I do agree this sounds like a little girl being raised by her grandma, probably poor and rural or maybe even set back in time. I say that because the "strong drink" indicates to me some kind of herbal concoction, and she says to keep the pulp for when her tummy gets upset. Hem the skirts in salt and vinegar also sounds to me like old witchcraft and folk medicine or superstition. It sounds to me like the grandma is trying to save her but ultimately can't and the grandmother has to bury her in the water. This is why her hair turns green and the water is rising. The whispering air beneath her bed sounds to me like death is coming, people who are dying report visual and auditory hallucinations often. |

| Corey Hart – Sunglasses at Night Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Re: what DMPO1984 said No that's for another song, called the futures so bright I gotta wear shades. A one hit wonder by a couple of nuclear science students. This song is just a silly idea that a guy could wear sunglasses to see his girls lies, and to hide his vulnerability from her. |

| The Sugarcubes – Birthday Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This is the first song I ever heard by the sugarcubes and I saw the video on 120 minutes with Dave Kendall, I remember thinking how could such a voice come from such a little girl! My theory is a little different but I could be way off. I always thought it was about 2 little kids who were best friends, the beard and the smoking of cigars are all pretend like playing grown ups. *shrug* | |
