I think when she says "waiting for you in the hotel at night" she's referring to what brits and aussies call hotels, in other words a 'bar' or a 'pub', an obvious but cool reference to her drinking. It's pretty easy to surmise that this song is about her first break-up with Blake, how much she loved him and how much it hurt her when he went back to his girlfriend. |

This is a great band from the riot grrl era. Kat Bjelland really does have an excellent voice, this song is filled with raw pain and emotion. One of the the few bands that arent totally contrived. The music is simple, the melodies are simple but that is not what makes this song great. The lyrics and the meaning behind it does. I percieve this song to be about an ex lover perhaps, a kind of love hate sick relationship. Been in one. Love this song. XXXX |

This song was actually a fictional story (there was no Esther) but it was based on the death of family, a girlfriend and friends. It's a great fucking song I love it, the chords and the way the guitar sounds is just so powerful and it really brings light to the lyrics. My favorite Everclear album is Sparkle and Fade it totally rocks, its really great post-grunge/grunge music |
