I agree on 'when I'm a gun in a fist fight' and 'these boys...', that's what I hear every time too. Absolutely loving the new album! |

=S This is all I could do, some doesn't make sense whatsoever >.< Oh, little girl, you drink water and you are drunk There or you drown, you have beauty to have foot you go down To the harbour, to the harbour Oh, little crazy one, it's not the breast stroke it's the crawl To cross it you need shoulders Of the body, of the body But him, it's different He was born on the ocean It's a great captain A lover, monument You lost yourself inside Oh, little girl, we two never have to leave Here, there is always one to drop the other, to languish At the harbour, at the harbour Oh, little sappy with your pots of jam You will leave with a lollipop but not to the adventure To the north, to the north But him, it's different He was born on the white mountain It's a great mountaineer A lover, monument You have lost his path Oh, little nun if it's beyond if you find it The return not to the beginning in order that he Opens it up to you Again, again Oh, little larva I am yourself and I speak to you You are already big, so get up Leave your hold To the harbour, to the harbour Your heart of a little girl has died Oh, little girl, to your right, the Arc de Triomphe Oh, little girl, to your left, there is a god who snores Oh, little girl in front there are pyramids Oh, last little girl, behind is the genius of the Bastille |

| Franz Ferdinand – What You Meant Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Funny, I always thought that the first line of the last verse was "But I feel blood inside the vein", not "'Cause I feel blood inside the vein." Now I know this seems nit-picky, but when you think about it, it's important. When he says "'Cause", it's like he's giving a reason for all the rest of the lyrics, but saying "But" negates all the lyrics; in spite of being 'left asa blackened filament', whoever's speaking still feels alive. Idk, I just felt it was maybe worthwhile pointing out? I also thought that the second verse was referring to violence, i.e. that the only way to communicate without voilence is through drug use. As MDMA creates feelings of euphoria, this would avoid conflict. I think this is quite a grim view of the world, to find peace through manufactured euphoria. Also, the third verse seems to say that you can't thrive off innocence. I think it's important that the last verse begins "But...", because it shows that in the face of grim reality shown in the previous verses, people can still feel alive. Thanks, theflamehaired1 for sharing that quotation, as it really helped me think about these lyrics more! |

| Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark – We Love You Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Does anyone get the feeling that the song is maybe not talking about a person? I listened to it walking down the street, and thought 'everybody's craving something - they just may not know what it is. Is this what they love and would die for, etc?' | |

Especially around the fifty year anniversary of the two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, this song is fantastic. It serves as a reminder for the evil in the human race and I guess does warn us how much we can destroy. Kisses are very strong in talking about evil - the Judas kiss springs to mind somewhat. Maybe things aren't so sweet on the receiving end. Just a thought. |
