My Chemical Romance – Welcome To The Black Parade Lyrics 18 years ago
I'd like to congratulate 99% of the people who have commented on this song for completely ignoring the idea of this website. Not that "www.SONGMEANINGS.net" gives away what you're supposed to do or anything, dipshits. I've looked at a few pages of comments on here, and I've hardly seen anyone give their interpretation of the lyrical meaning. It's either people complaining about how much they hate the band (if you dislike My Chemical Romance, go and listen to bands that you do like instead of moaning about ones you don't, you sad bastards), or it's people giving their opinion on the song. Guess what, nobody cares how much you like the song. If this site was called www.songopinions.net, then it'd be alright, but it's not. Jesus, if I took over the world I'd introduce mandatory I.Q. tests before people were allowed on the internet, and whoever got a score lower than what I considered satisfactory would be thrown into a pit of lions. It's a shame because this site has the potential to be a really interesting site with a brilliant concept, but people are too stupid to understand the idea of it, so it just doesn't happen. When did society lose their wits?

Anyway, that said, I shall now actually do what you're supposed to do when you comment on a set of lyrics. There seems to be a number of different narrative voices in this song. The intro I'd say is obviously a guy looking back at his youth, or at least a time in his life that's made an impact on his life. Then you have the verse and the chorus that sound like they're written from the perspective of somebody that knew the death victim, basically saying that they need to carry on with life no matter what tragedy has struck. This voice continues until the "disappointed faces" part which sounds like the death victim again, saying that he's not ashamed of his disease (makes sense considering the album topic, ey?) and he's going to live his life the best he can for as long as it remains.

To sum it up, I think this song is a big "fuck you" to cancer. The whole song to me sounds like two different people; the cancer patient and a loved one; both knowing that cancer is affecting them in different ways but they're not gonna let it get to them and they're just gonna live their lives as if there is no cancer. It looks at it in a sort of positive light, because you could spend your remaining days trying to get over the cancer, or you could accept that what's done is done, and now you just have to make the most of what you have left.

Say what you like about this band, and I'll even agree that the albums prior to this one aren't very good, but whoever wrote the lyrics to this song is a very intelligent man.

Megadeth – A Tout le Monde (Set Me Free) Lyrics 20 years ago
I had this song down as a song from the point of view of somebody that is tired of life and is saying goodbye to his loved ones. I've only been a Megadeth fan for about a year or so and I saw them live @ Manchester Academy this past February and they played this song. It was awesome.

This song to me sounds like a declaration of no longer taking shit from anyone. Whether it be the bullshit media, or people that bullied him as a kid.

"All my life, always I've felt alone, conditioned to believe that I'm always wrong".

This line sounds like he was never allowed an opinion as a kid which made him timid.

"My every weakness I must turn into strength".

This line says to me that all the bad emotion that's inside of him from the past years, he now needs to channel to strength, so he'll no longer be walked over.

So my verdict is that it's a general "fuck you, I won't take anyone's shit anymore, I'm finally standing up for myself and if anyone wants to get in my way, fuck you".

Machine Head – All Falls Down Lyrics 20 years ago
Well, like a lot of songs, this one could possibly be to do with a drug addiction taking over.

To me, it definately sounds like it's being written from the point of view of something that is taking over another one's life. It may be drug addiction, or it may be something else taking over. But I'd definately say the song is about having your life taken over.
