Nirvana – School Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm pretty sure this is about how Kurt dropped out of high school to follow music. However, he couldn't make a living and the only job he could get was as a janitor at his old high school. As a janitor you get no recess, and it was just his luck that he ended back at that same school. Pretty literal.

White Town – Your Woman Lyrics 18 years ago
Well I guess what you say is true,
"I could never be the right kind of girl for you,
I could never be your woman."

Does everyone get it now?

Lynyrd Skynyrd – That Smell Lyrics 19 years ago
Come on guys, the smell of death isn't meant to be literal. The song is about Rossington, who crashed his car, but also was heavy into drugs. The song is meant to be a wake up call. The smell of death means that death is so close you can smell it. Therefore, if Rossington keeps up his ways, he will eventually die from it.

Alice in Chains – Would? Lyrics 19 years ago
Everyone of Alice's songs conveys a meaning so deep. The way they are performed is so perfect, I can't think of a better way to play it or sing it. I only wish I could see them with Staley. His voice is so unique. Hopefully they will be awesome next week when I see them.

Alice in Chains – Nutshell Lyrics 19 years ago
This is such a sad song. It is performed so perfectly by the band. They just pull you into what they are feeling.

This song just makes you feel so lonely. You just want to help someone after hearing this song.

Stone Temple Pilots – Interstate Love Song Lyrics 19 years ago
This is such a beautiful song. Seriously, STP was one of the only Rock bands in the 90's and they were so talented. They need to get back together.

Future Leaders of the World – spotlight Lyrics 19 years ago
I love how dark this sounds. This just sounds like there is no hope. You need to fight with all you got, make sure that no one tells you what to do.

Stone Temple Pilots – Plush Lyrics 19 years ago
Does anyone agree with me that the first line is:
"And I feel that time's a ways to go"?
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

Godsmack – Shine Down Lyrics 19 years ago
I really love this song. I like Godsmack a lot, and I know they were influenced by Alice in Chains a lot. But is it just me, or can anyone else picture Layne Staley singing this song?

Pink Floyd – Pigs (Three Different Ones) Lyrics 19 years ago
One idea I have about "ha ha, charade you are" is that the way Gilmour sings it sounds similar to "ha ha, so right you are." I think of it being very sarcastic towards the people being sung about in the song.

I think the first line is incorrect. It seems that it should go like: "And I feel that time's a ways to go".

Pink Floyd – Have a Cigar Lyrics 19 years ago
Pink Floyd took their name after two old bluesmen Pink Anderson and Floyd Council, who were two of their favorite artists and big influences. You can find more if you just search on Google.

Foo Fighters – Have a Cigar (Pink Floyd cover) Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is not about Syd. Shine on You Crazy Diamond and Wish You Were Here are about him, but Welcome to the Machine and Have a CIgar are about the music industry. Have a Cigar is obviously lighter than Welcome to the Machine. Just look at the lyrics.

By the way, I think this is a great cover. Foo Fighters did this song their way and it came out very good. Primus also does a good cover of this song.

Pink Floyd – Have a Cigar Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is a lighter version of "Welcome to the Machine". It is describing how the record industry treats artists, as if they are friends, but they are really just the company's cash cows.

"Come in here dear boy, have a cigar" - being treated like friends. The next part is the execs telling them how big they are going to be.
"Oh by the way which one's Pink?" - It happened on more than one occasion, but the execs thought that Pink Floyd was taken after the lead singer's name. Them asking who Pink was, shows how fake they really are.

The chorus - It's the execs telling them that its the fast track to fame and money.

"We're just knocked out, we heard about the sell out." - The execs are amazed at how the band has been received by the fans.
"You gotta get an album out, you owe it to the people. We're so happy we can hardly count." - The execs aren't putting an album out just cause the fans want one. The execs want more money, and this excites them.
"Everybody else is just green, have you seen the chart?" - The band is in demand, the hottest thing out there right now.
"It's a helluva start, it could be made into a monster
if we all pull together as a team." - This is the execs saying that they play an equal part in how well the band does and that they do an equal amount of hard work.

This song is NOT about Syd. He appeared during the making of the album ready to play, but he was so messed up from drugs. He acted as if he never left the band. Wish You Were Here and Shine on You Crazy Diamond are both about him. Not this one nor "Welcome to the Machine".

Alice in Chains – Frogs Lyrics 20 years ago
I always thought it was about a bad lsd trip, but reading some of the stuff written about friendship, I can definitely see that point of view. And let me say that I most certainly do not believe that every song by Alice in Chains is about drugs. But on to my reasons:

I am pretty sure that mars is right saying that frogs is a slang term for lsd. Also, on hallucinogens, certain sounds can put you into a bad trip. I would imagine that the sounds frogs make can induce paranoia.

The first verse kind of explains what it is like to be in a bad trip. You are separated from everything. You feel like you are the only one and that no one can help you and most of the time it's true. You just have to outlast it.

The second verse seems to describe the trip going on. And by saying rapid brown avoid clear blue seems to me that this is where things may go wrong. Blue is a very peaceful and serene color, and brown is just dingy and not pleasant to look at. He can't avoid it.

The chorus - he's asking why did it happen and when will it end.

Now for the third verse. If you have ever consumed a decent amount, you would see strong visuals, not even with just lsd, mushrooms can bring this on. Things bloom from other things, like flowers. The grass and trees, they look like flowers are blooming from them. Now this eerie tune he hears could send him spiraling into his bad trip. Like I said before, when you are in one, it is so hard to escape it, you feel like you are trapped, hence the cocoon. And then you see the bad shit that freaks you out. The very last part seems to me like its his conscience telling to stop doing this to himself.

Alice in Chains – Grind Lyrics 20 years ago
I definitely see where both HardRoker and KRBSRACING are coming from, but if it is about drugs, it doesn't really apply to just meth. I would say maybe a hallucinogen. People who took too much were said stair into the sun until they went blind, but that was back in the 60s and 70s. Also, let me sleep so my teeth won't grind can imply drugs. When you are on some drugs, your teeth grind together.

The Beatles – She Said She Said Lyrics 20 years ago
Oops, and to add on, I also read that this song was inspired because george was having a real bad trip. Harrison thought he was dying, and Fonda in turn said he wasn't dying, and that he knew what it was like to be dead.

Pink Floyd – Brain Damage Lyrics 20 years ago
I don't necessarily think this is about tripping acid. It is talking about all the insanity in the world, and then eventually relating it to Roger, who in a sense felt as if he would eventually become insane too, relating a bit to Barrett.

The insanity in the world is brought to him by the paperboy, who delivers the news, with all the lunatics in it. The lunatic is on the grass refers to the newspaper being on the grass. The lunatics are in my hall, he brought the paper in. The lunatics are in my head, he is reading the paper.

The relation to syd is obvious. Syd blanked out on stage near the end of his career with Floyd, hence the last part. And Waters saying that he will meet him on the dark side of the moon is saying that he thinks he will go insane like Barrett.

Also someone mentioned something about where they got the name Pink Floyd from, and that Pink was an imaginery friend of Barrett. I am pretty sure their name comes from two artists, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council, who were favorites of barrett.

The Beatles – She Said She Said Lyrics 20 years ago
I read somewhere that the title comes from Peter Fonda. At on point in the trip, he was supposedly sitting in the corner just repeating the phrase, "She said, she said, she said."
