^^Continued... Third Verse- he lives like a king so long, he becomes numb to the fact that he is missing something....When sorrow comes he runs from it and tries to fill it with wealthy pleasures. "Oh, someone make me afraid of what I’ve become!" - best line of the whole song...hes become something terrible...and wants to get away from it basically.. Chorus - "If I could become the servant of all No lower place to fall (I could be your servant)" - We are to humble oursevles and become like a servant to him and to others...if we do this..then we put ourselves lower than anything(that is what we are supposed to do) and therefore have no lower place to fall.... ....Those are my thoughts....this song is so amazing..i might be completely wrong...though this is what has been revealed to me by this song.. |

First off...mewithoutYou=Amazing...music and lyrics.. Second..i think this song does have a lot to do with humility. "January 1979, saw a terrible crash And it couldn’t help but laugh" - I believe he is talking about his birth and how he was born with sin...but all he did was laugh it off... "My forehead no longer sweet With holy kisses worthy of your fiery lips I was floating in a peaceful sea Rescued by a sinking ship" - He had fallen away from God...he was living a peaceful sea...thought he was being rescued because life away from God looks good at first...but he was climbing aboard a sinking ship. Second verse is about him starting to think he can do things on his own and thinking too highly of himself that he missed the small things happening that were not good.. |

pretty simple to me, Its about all his searching for happiness and his failures that got him nowhere. Then he finds the truth and it says "So I begin with the end in mind." -He now lives his life, through all the pain and hate that the world throws his way, always thinking about the end-his eternal life with God. |

" We walked on glass all day long, with eyes rolled back." -I think this means that we walk all day in a life that could just break and fall apart, and we walk like this blind. A life without Christ is like walking blind on glass. "This is between me and this blade, and my heart." -Like Shiz85 said, there is a passage from the bible that says the word of the Lord is like a sword. I think that the writer is struggling with something, maybe betweeen living in the world or for the Lord, and the struggle is just between him and what the Lord says." "Come one, come all, introduce knife to heart." -I think hes finally conquered his struggle and now wants everybody to ask for forgiveness. He wants to inroduce the word of the Lord to thier hearts. |

Every time i listen to this song it has an effect on me. Its amazing. "where do you find the love to offer he who betrays you? and offer to wash my feet as i offer to disobey you, your beauty does bereave me, and how my words do fail, so faithfully and dutifully i award you with betrayal" -Ever wonder how someone so worthy as Him can love someone that betrays Him over and over again by sinning. "Jesus my heart is all i have to give to you, so weak and so unworthy, this simply will not do, no alabaster jar, no diamond in the rough, for your body that was broken, how can this be enough?" -my favorite line of the song. All we have to give to the Lord is our dark dark body that is not worthy at all but is somehow still accepted by him. |
