i never realy thought about one eight becoming two zeros as a split up, i thought that was pretty clever....i just thought of it as like, when you look a different way at something, you can figure out a lot more, i.e. turning an eight on its side so it looks like two zeroes: you actually get the full picture. |

i am pretty much convinced that this song (as well as oxycodone) is just a combination of meaningless words that just sound good with the flow of the music. i can't understand any meaning from them. |

| The Number Twelve Looks Like You – The Devil's Dick Diaster Lyrics

This song was actually written by someone in another band (i think it was sawtooth, im not too sure). The band never got to use it because they broke up before they had the chance, so he gave the lyrics to twelve and they used it. It's about trying to shake a drug addiction. |

Everyone here pretty much has it perfectly said, but i think some of you are overanalyzing certain things and not looking hard enough at certain things. I dont think it's really about any one certain person, i think its something that everyone can relate to. Sometimes, the things you call your own dont really matter to you, whether you're poor or not. Sometimes the only things that really matter to you are sleeping in your bed (excessive sleep is a sign of depression) a guitar (a symbol for expression).
The DOG named DOG is a symbol for a predictable and boring world. Then he says, "that's right i got a floor," not saying that hes proud of it, hes just referring back to one of his possessions that he forgot to mention.
Pockets full of Kleenex is an indication that this person does a lot of crying, seeing as you use tissues to wipe your nose. Either that or he's sick all the time, which gives you the same depression effect. The rest of the song is pretty obvious, except i think you guys are missing out on a big part of the song. You are totally overlooking "That's me inside your head." This line makes the song universal to everyone. what hes saying is that all these things he's feeling is inside your head right now. Sometimes EVERYONE feels like they are missing something in life. This is where the combing the sand metaphor comes in. Sometimes everyone feels like they are looking through a neverending mass of sand for something they dont even know. Everyone feels sorrow at some point, which is where the Violin on the street metaphor comes in. |

i think the message of this song is really simple, and it has more of a general meaning, not just about the government, but with any human being. its too easy to just go along with the rest of the world, and judging and being cynical doesnt show your individuality at all. it is when you actually physically turn completely around and go opposite that people get the message, and that is the true meaning of rebellion. |
