Helloween – We Damn the Night Lyrics 17 years ago
Pretty straight forward. It's about guardian angels... the angels sing the chorus and the person they have come to help sings the verses.

Kamelot – Across the Highlands Lyrics 17 years ago
Lol.. I loved this song but I never noticed it was about the Highlander till I was looking at the lyrics just now. Never payed attention to them before. The Highlander was one of my favorite TV shows (first movie is good too) and I was browsing the Karma book and was like... whoa, this is about the Highlander.

This song isn't about Khan and its not about the devil/Mephisto. Blood got whats going on. All the songs on Epica and The Black Halo with Khan sining are sung from the point of view of Ariel except for Feast for the Vain, Decent of the Archangel, and a bit in III Ways to Epica. On the Black Halo, someone else does Mephistos lines...

Kamelot – When The Lights Are Down Lyrics 17 years ago
Actually... this is when Ariel and the lady who looks like Helena get together. Ariel is all yes moody and emo and sees a woman who looks like Helena. Hes basically in a confused moment here. He wants to believe its his lost love but deep down he knows its not. They sleep together and all (when the lights are down... in the silence of the darkness we unite)

Lifehouse – Everything Lyrics 19 years ago
The song is deffenately about God... I had never heard of the band before but when I first heard the song, it was obvious who he was singing about.

And to me, God IS the One... I only wish I was talented enough and love God as much as he obviously does to beable to come up with something this good.

The Birthday Massacre – Blue Lyrics 19 years ago
I saw it as a story as well but nothing like that at all. I saw it as a girl who is like a "mean girl" or something. Fake nice to a boy whos real intentions are to hurt him. Spreading rumours and such with her "black tongue" dripping with poison while keeping the "cute" nice girl image.

Plastic Blue I've kind of took to mean fake... plastic. Fake plastic invitations that meant nothing. Plastic fake conversations... Fake tears... he's trusting every word untrue.. etc

I dunno thats kind of how I saw it :D But anyway, great song! Love her voice.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Shallow Be Thy Game Lyrics 20 years ago
Erm, no... I do not agree with Jware's interpretation. If that was the writers true intent, he missed the mark big time with this.

And the theology behind this is all messed up anyway if that was the case. First off, the Bible does say "fear God". The bible clearly states this numerous times in both the Old and New Testament.

Jesus said-
(Matthew 10:28) "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell."

Yes, God is a loving God. But reject Him and He will reject you. Plain and simple.

The Bible also plainly says many times we are all born into sin and are all sinners. So his line about us not being born into sin is again wrong.

The song is clearly trying to have it both ways which is impossible IF we are interpreting it the way Jware put it. If they do not believe the Bible and this is just a song attacking religion/God, then the song makes alot more sense. Which is the way I personally see this.

The song from my point of view is basically saying:
There is no God of the Bible. Though they may believe in a god of some sort. There is no hell. He will not serve in fear of hell. Like some peeps dont wanna end up there so they feel they need to convert. He doesn't buy it.

Verse 2 he is addressing Jesus. Like I said, Jesus did say to fear God. He obviously does not like Jesus as He claimed to be God and created a following. He believes Jesus is a fraud and the singer knows the truth and is a threat as he hopes to expose this "truth"

The chorus? Obviously shouting out to all the religious folk who say he's going to Hell.

Verse 3... basically, throw out this religious garbage. Pretty easy verse to figure out.

Verse 4... obviously addressing the Pope/priests in the Catholic church.

Anyway thats how I see it.

Skillet – A Little More Lyrics 20 years ago
Well those work but I've always thought, for the most part, it's more about a marriage. Many people get married and then devorce soon after for differnt reasons and I've always seen this as more of a "stay together and don't give up" song. No matter what happens in your realationship, love is still stronger and will always find away through whatever struggle. Of course if you happened to have married a psycho or something then thats differnt :P

Good Charlotte – Meet My Maker Lyrics 20 years ago
Well, the Bible never actually says you'll go to hell just cause you commit suicide. I know thats a Catholic belief but from what I understand, they arent roman catholic. Just... Christian. Most Christians I know dont believe that. Is it what God wants them to do? No. Can they still go to heaven? I think so. Its a sin like anything else. The song also doesnt say the person commited suicide so even if they are Catholic, I dont think its really a contradiction.

Blind Guardian – The Maiden And The Minstrel Knight Lyrics 20 years ago
I know there are differnt versions of the tale and the one posted above is probably one of the more well known versions. Anyway, to clear up a little about the story as the version above leaves out parts that are obviously in the song. So I thought I would tell the tail a little more complete as it referes to the song.

The basic jist of the story has been told above so Ill get straight to the song.

"The faithful crowd is gathered here
Soon they'll appear
The high and mighty show up the king
Is in doubts
"Apart from this beggar here
There's no one like you my dear
Tasting my lips
No one but you and him"

Basically whats happening here is after Tristan and Isolde are susppected of adultry, Isolde is to take an oath and swear to Mark that she has had no man between her legs other than Tristan. On the way to the court, Tristan, desquised as a beggar carries, Isolde on his back with her legs around her and carries her across the muddy river to keep her from getting wet. This way when she tells her oath, techinaclly she wount be lying cause the only person shes been with was the beggar (who was also tristan so sayin shes only been between the beggars legs was true). Isolde then appears before Mark, the nobel men and king arthur and his knights and swears her oath.

"Round the fire everyone should sing
And praise the gracious queen
Round the fire everyone should dance
And we praise the handsome knight"

Well, the Mark (though still doubtful)and people trust Isolde and so everyone I guess is praising the gracious queen... she did no wrong as they suspected. Praise the handsome knight... they falsely accused him too so they hail him as well for no dishonoring the Kings marrage.

"There's a moment in life when all the years will pass by
And the eyes filled with tears we once shed
We recognize failures, the desperate cries
Of the ones who believed in our lies

Whenever I'll go you'll be with me
My first though and my last
Though we'll depart in bitterness
One day you'll understand

Carry on
Beloved maiden, mine
Carry on
Or we have to pay the price"

The king tired of bearing doubt banishes Tristan and Idolse to the forest. He discovers that they are living together and finds them in bed with thier clothes on and conclude he must have made a mistake and decides to reconcile with Isolde. Tristan and Isolde feel guilty and think its best that they go thier seprate ways... Tristan leaves in exile, Isolde returns to Mark...

"Yesterday's memories and melodies
Are gone with the wind, so sad
Snow-white her hands and golden her hair
But she's not the one
Out in the emptiness where everything's pale
There is no sign of you, I'm alone
How I wish you would be here, I'm alone
Telling me it's alright, come rest (your hand)"

Tristan marries another woman named Isolde AKA Isolde of the White Hands. Tristan is wonded in battle calles for the true Isolde to heal him cause she is gifted in healing. White sails means shes on the ship coming to him, black, shes not. When the ships come into view, Isolde of the White Hands, out of spite, tells him the sails are black and he dies of dispair.

Isolde eventually gets there and finds him dead and also dies of dispair.

Awesome song, great story, Blind Guardian is awesome.
