| I would like to say, that anyone who has heard this song can't fail to feel the amazing power put into the sound, and vocals. The last two stanza are surrounded by possibly the best thaught out guitar riff I've ever had the pleasure of hearing. I guess what i like about this song is that it fits so well, there is no way to faut it really, a brilliant peice of classic rock. | |

| This song was recorded for the Aqualung B-side My God, and unfortunately didn't make it. It loosely falls into line with the other tracks on the album, being about established religion. I cant actualy decipher much meaning from most of the song though... | |

To me, locomotive breath is fairly obviously about a man who, after suffering many problems in his life, comes to blame god for all the fuckups and things that happen to him. "Old Charlie stole stole the handle" Appears in the first three stanza, wheras; "He picks up Gideon's Bible - open at page one - God, He stole the handle" in the last seems to suggest that this man has decided to use God as a skapegoat for his problems. This is only the first thing that came to my mind when i read the lyrics however. --- 15 here, I happly inherited my musical taste from my pearants, which solidly included Jethro Tull. I've pursuaded my band to play Seal Driver (Broadsword and the Beast - lyrics unfortunately not here yet) which is my all time favourate by Tull. |

^^ Mary is a 'child prostitute' - Ian Anderson. This song, musically, is one of their best, not just on the album, but ever. The lyrics, which obviously hold little secrets, are bold and to the point, prompting me to say that you shouldnt read more into them than what is obviously there. Its meant as a statement, not a song to spend hours thinking about. |

It's intresting how so many people have commented on Aqualung, lyricaly, and musically it's not a particulary amazing song, and is, in those respects, overshadowed by far by other songs on the album.. As CHAKA said, the album is anti-establishmental religion, but more specifically, is the B side entitled "My God", wheras "Aqualung" deals more broadly with the problems the established religion causes. |

Jack Johnson is such an amazing artist, and this is an amazingly powerfull song, Obviously about how pointless war is, "Buy now and save, it’s a war for peace It’s the same old game But do we really want to play?" would be my favourate few lines, which emphasises the obvious hypocrisy in having a war for peace. When I listen to this, it always reminds me that we have possibly already gone too far, and that we will never stop this game. |

| The best thing, I feel about the Levellers, is that their music IS obvious and to the point. You aren't required to decipher any deeper meaning from this song, it's what it is, Its tragicaly sad, and beutifully written and performed, possibly one of the best track ever, by any band. | |
