John Mayer – Waiting on the World to Change Lyrics 19 years ago
does anyone else just think this song is ironic? i can see where people are coming from saying that our generation, instead of doing something, is just waiting till we're in power. however, i feel like mayer is smart enough to actually make this a song that describes what a lot of people are unintentionally doing these days. the chorus implies to a lot of people that the song is somehow empowering, however i feel what he's really doing is stating how it's ridiculous, in a way, for people to be sitting around "waiting on the world to change". everyone has something to say politically, but people that are actually acting out are in the minority. mayer seems to be simply pointing this out with this song...especially when he knows that if he's played on a top 40 radio station, the less intelligent people of the nation will think of this as an accessible political song that the agree with. people think the world should change, but, i believe, mayer is making fun of those who don't go out and try to make a difference.

Pretty Girls Make Graves – More Sweet Soul Lyrics 20 years ago
I'm guessing the name in the song is actually Conley (not Connely), as in Arthur Conley. Arthur Conley was an R&B singer in the 1960s that released an album called More Sweet Soul.
