Fall Out Boy – Of All the Gin Joints in All the World Lyrics 20 years ago
"You only hold me up like this
Cause you don't know who I really am"

perhaps the song means she treats him in a special way because she doesn't really know him or his likes, or he is mistaken and she knows him perfectly and is actually completing him...you have to see it from both perspectives

"We're making out inside crashed cars
We're sleeping through all our memories"

they are 'settling their difference' after a big fight, and completely forgeting the problems. (probably no deeper meaning)

"Turn off the lights and turn off the shyness
All of our moves make up for the silence"

stop using your senses, follow your heart, break through the barrier; actions speak louder than words...

"And oh, the way your makeup stains my pillowcase
Like I'll never be the same"

'like'-does this show sarcasm, as in he CAN get past her, or is it literal? that these mari endings are infinite stains on his life and relationships, represented on a pillow....

or maybe, like a lot of art, you truly can't interpret it.
isn't that a comforting thought?

Jimmy Buffett – The Good Fight Lyrics 20 years ago
the good fight is about never giving up and never taking the easiest way if its the wrong one.
"I'd never know if I was Wrong or right"
we never truly know if what we did was for the best until its all over.
there always seems to be two well defined paths(right or wrong, half way there, half way gone), sometimes we think we see a grey area where right and wrong border each other, but unfortunately, there's no excuse for bad judgement.

Jim Croce – Bad, Bad Leroy Brown Lyrics 20 years ago
a couple friends and i made a music video with this song. it went pretty well, even though we were all laughing when our 5' 2" "Leroy" was beating me up.

yeah, this is definitely the under-rated guys anthem.

reminds of the old saying: "the bigger they are, the harder they fall"

Jim Croce – I Got A Name Lyrics 20 years ago
this song, to me, is about finding or creating individualism in a monotonous society. for example:
"Like the singin' bird and the croakin' toad"
the bird or toad aren't particularly special when viewed with other birds and/or toads*, but there song is what sets them apart from one another; just as peoples' actions are one of the things that can be distinguished. not to get to Martin Luther King Jr.-like, or anything.
i'm fully aware that many bird songs sound alike, but we as people often rally together for particular causes. but i'm rambling.
this is an outstanding song, just for croce's skilled guitar work.
"Movin' ahead so life won't pass me by"
don't get hung up on things, life goes on, we should too.
*i suppose i should add frogs to the mix, toads and frogs look alot alike.

Frank Sinatra – Summer Wind Lyrics 20 years ago
the lyrics sound so mournful, but the instrumental parts add some hopefulness to finding love agian. People can learn lessons from sinatra songs.

great love song. as oakie2186 said, its a good wedding song. especially for an astronomer, or something.

Billy Joel – Piano Man Lyrics 20 years ago
this is an amazing song that everyone can find a meaning in. no matter if its played at a real piano bar, or a corner pub, or even on the radio, it always seems to fit.

Steve Poltz – California Lyrics 20 years ago
this song recounts a stay at a rehabilitation center of some sort. the tone of the song is rather depressing, but becomes hopeful for the verse on getting picked up. anyway, its a great mellow summer night sort of song.

Steve Poltz – You Remind Me Lyrics 20 years ago
one of my all time favorite poltz songs.
very catch guitar part.
the first chorus:
"It’s an inkblot world; a Rorschach test
You make your way; you try the best you can
You remind me who I am"
is a comment on how life is what you make of it.
