Yes, it's obviously alluding to Atlantis, not global warming or even American politics. Dustin's never been a political writer. His songs are about the conditon of the human soul, and all human souls. Like Atlantis, we have become greedy and too comfortable in our lives. We have turned out eyes from the important things and have fallen too many times from our souls. And, if we don't, as he writes, "turn around," then the sea will swallow us--we will fall, drown, be destroyed by our own doing or perhaps by God or the world's doing. |

| Nietzchse is a famous philosopher who, though did not believe in religion, hated nihilistic values. He believed that nihilism would ultimately destroy the world if it became popular. In such ways, people are becoming more nihilistic everyday. I think the whole "kneeling deep in Nietschze's lies" is a sarcasm for saying most think he's a liar, but the nihilistic ways are really not good for the world. | |

i think its about patriotism and its affect on people. its about how it blinds us and leads us to take dramatic action. "lift the veil, it's not medicine " kind of means stop being so patriotic and being all "GO RED WHITE AND BLUE" because its not helping anything or anyone. a lot of this can also be compared with hypocrisy, the whole burning in wrists part. its llike knowing your a hypocrite and still doing it over and over. |
