this is what i think,
i think this song is doubting or questioning the messiah, as the jews don't believe in jesus as the messiah or chosen one or something and are waiting for the chosen one, i think that he questions if they are waiting for nothing, or don't know what they are waiting for like in the line that says "are we, we are , are we, we are, the waiting unknown" |

one thing i'd lioketo mention is that i think that its 'give me a LONG kiss goodnight' causethat's what it saysin the lyricsthat came w/ the cd...i don't know that was just bothering me...
anyway, *takes deep breath* i think this song is about when he is going through a trouble time and he just can't take the pain anymore so he wants to numb himself like inthe linethat says 'tell me that i won't feel a thing'.he wants to go in a type of dream land where he can't feel any thing. the line' give me a long kiss GOOD NIGHT' supportsthat by saying that he's about to be dreaming.or it could mean he's getting high or using drugs(goinginto a dreamland) , but i don't think this song is mostly about taking drugs. and also in the line that says: 'jimmy says its better than air' i think that he is in such pain that, numbing himself would help himself sustain life better than air would meaning the pain is killing him.
maybe i'm right, maybe i'm stating the obvious, or maybe i'm just wrong. |
