| Rainer Maria – Southpaw Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I have rarely seen a song so open to interpretation. It can really be about anything, any struggle. You're supposed to be able to deal with it, or you're experienced with it (a seasoned fighter), but for some reason, your heart's not in it and you let yourself lose. This is my interpretation; just because most of the CD (and most songs in general in this genre) is about romantic love, I think it's about arguing with your partner AGAIN, like you always do, and finally you realize that it's not worth it, that he/she isn't worth it, and you can't deal with it any more. However, it could be about any number of things, like I said. |

| Rainer Maria – Burn Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I love the imagery of burning at the stake. This is probably because I'm a mythology nerd, but I really get a King Arthur/Queen Guinivere vision in my head when I read the lyrics. The other person says they would die for you... will you only understand what they meant about the depth of their love and caring only after they have to keep their word on that? |

| Rainer Maria – Already Lost Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It uses the full range of this sadness. The haunted denial in "Are you losing me?", the painful acceptance in "I waited up all night", the despair and numbness in the following words. You go through the experience with her. That makes a good song. | |
| Rainer Maria – Bottle Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Finally, in a sea of songs about love lost and flawed relationships, we get a song about being blissfully, completely, madly in love. ...I mean, not that songs about the aforementioned topics are devoid of truth and merit, I'm just saying that there's too many sad love songs and not enough happy ones. Thank you Rainer Maria! This is one of my favorites on the album. | |
| Rainer Maria – Catastrophe Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This song rules. It's one of those I connected to instantly. I had heard of Rainer Maria, so I enthusiastically clicked on a link to the music video that I had found in random internet wanderings. The song and video blew me away. I probably connect to it a lot because my girlfriend and I have had something of a tumultuous relationship; not because of our feelings, but because of crisises (or catastrophes) one or the other of us is having. It's become a running joke between us, "Let's not have a personal crisis this time." At least we understand each other, eh? The CD (which I almost literally ran out and bought) is now one of my favorites. Post-rock bands with female singers are the best. |

| Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I have no idea of what this song's deeper meaning is... it probably is about the war or the Machine. All I know is that whenever I hear this song, especially the chorus, I think of a girl I loved (unrequited) for nearly three years who was a Pink Floyd fan. Then I moved away, and I did wish she was here with me. The verses feel like me asking her if she's changed since I've been gone Oh yeah, and "we're just two lost souls swimming in a fishbowl/year after year" is one of the best lines ever written in rock music. |

| The Ataris – My So Called Life Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Haha, this song is hilarious. I am a Claire Danes lover myself... too bad for Kris! | |
