The Killers – Spaceman Lyrics 16 years ago
I think the song is about Brandon dealing with fame and his life on the road touring.

I figured if anyone could do this song justice, it would Josh Homme.

But it's a pretty substandard cover. Not bad, not good.

Can't beat the original.

Guns N' Roses – Catcher In The Rye Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is apparently about Mark Chapman and the murder of John Lennon.

Brian May plays lead guitar.

Soundgarden – Black Hole Sun Lyrics 20 years ago
Ultimate grunge anthem.

I think it's just Cornell saying he's had enough of all the evil, shallow, morally-corrupt people in this world - and he's almost begging for the sun to explode, become a black hole and suck the Earth and it's inhabitants into oblivion.

Pretty funny when you think about it. But, geez, there are some days when you can just totally understand where he was coming from.

Some of the lyrics don't really make much sense, but you've got to remember that a songwriter will always sacrifice lyrics for melody.

The Verve – Bittersweet Symphony Lyrics 20 years ago
Geez, more comments about a bad movie than the actual song.

I love listening to this song as I walk down the busy streets on my way to work. Just gives me a bit of a lift. The drums are the key to the song, imo.

I think it's fairly obvious what the song is about. Life is so bittersweet! You love being alive and enjoy so much in this beautiful world, but it's always bittersweet because of the pressure to be like everyone else and get ajob, make money, buy crap you don't need, find a partner, get married, etc etc

These things can take over your entire existence - which is unfortuante because life is so short.

Alice in Chains – Rooster Lyrics 20 years ago
Yeah a song about nam.

I love how Cantrell and Staley combine their voices so well. And how Layne gives a tiny little hint of the power of his voice just before he launches into the crashing chorus.

I prefer the Live album version of this song rather than Facelift. Check it out, if you haven't already.

Perfect opener for Jar of Flies. Sets the tone of the album beautifully.

The intertwining guitars is exquisite.

Alice in Chains – Don't Follow Lyrics 20 years ago
I agree that there's a real country vibe about this song.

I haven't studied the lyrics closely, but I always assumed it was about someone running away, and desperately wanting to return home but they're too proud to.

Alice in Chains – Nutshell Lyrics 20 years ago
I always saw it as Layne's suicide note.

Beautiful vocals & some of the most tasteful and soulful guitar playing you'll ever hear.

Alice in Chains – Down In A Hole Lyrics 20 years ago
The music video would suggest the song is about poverty and how it tends to become a vicious cycle that people can't get out of. But the lyrics could be about drug addiction, depression or a relationship

Always moves me when I hear it. Especially if I’ve had a bad day.

Hauntingly beautiful.

My favourite song of all time.

Soundgarden – Slaves & Bulldozers Lyrics 20 years ago
Got an annoying neighbour?

Blast this song as loud as you can at 3:00 in the morning. Cornell's voice will shatter windows.

"Now I know why you've been shaking
Now I know why you've been shaking"

Soundgarden – Limo Wreck Lyrics 20 years ago
Just an absolutely phenomenal song.

The vocals from Cornell are extraordinary. The lyrics are not only intelligent, but almost clairvoyant considering recent events in the world.

The man is an exceptional artist that made the best music in the 90's and some of the best of all time.

Soundgarden – Jesus Christ Pose Lyrics 20 years ago
Just a guess on my part, but could the song be about Axl Rose?

Axl used to wear a shirt with a picture of Jesus Christ and the slogan "kill your idols" underneath. (The egotistical prick was going through his extreme paranoia phase). He would also make the "arms held out" pose at the end of certain songs.

You'd imagine that Cornell would have hated that sort of thing.
