I think this song means that someone is trying to be something that there not. So the person that's pretending to be someone that there not, knows that they can't get close to the person that they love. I think this song is about a murder and that amy sees the murder but the murder tries to hide it from her. 'How can I pretend that I don't see What you hide so carelessly?' Amy goes onto to say to the murder that she's seen what he's done. She's seen the body of what he's killed. She also says that when she first saw what he did she was in shock and she tried to pretend that she didn't see the body. 'I saw her bleed You heard me breathe So I froze inside myself And turned away I must be dreaming' In the chorus she's trying to convince herself that she didn't see the body. After the chorus she says that she needs to tell someone about what she's seen but she can't because she's scared of the murder. 'Help you know I've got to tell someone Tell them what I know you've done I fear you but spoken fears can come true' Then she continues to sing the chorus, she's emphasizing that she doesn't know what to do and that she can't believe that someone would do that. |
