| Panic! at the Disco – There's a Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't Thought of It Yet Lyrics | 20 years ago |

My Take on this song is a tid bit different from what most people here have been saying. I see it as a couple that are argumentative and having trouble. The lyrics in the song are in the minds of each. The song starts with the woman, who has brought or was dragged to this fashion party of the sorts. She makes the comment in her head : "'Please leave all overcoats, canes, and top hats with the doorman' And from that moment, you'll be out of place and underdressed I'm wrecking this evening already and loving every minute of it Ruining this banquet for the mildly inspiring" She makes it seem her man will seem to be out of place and look underdressed without all his accesory clothing, as he would be left in a shirt and pants. He replys to the comment with " When you're in black slacks with accentuating off-white pinstripes, whoa-oh Everything goes according to plan" sort of a statement that he is perfectly fine without all that other stuff, and by the way "I'm the new cancer, never looked better And you can't stand it I know because you say so under your breath You're reading lips, "When did he get at all confident?" Haven't you heard that I'm the new cancer? Never looked better And you can't stand it" As to say "cancer" is something that is famous and popular in a infamous way. Alot of people die from it, its a big thing. and he sorta gives that "you look at me and think I thought Ide got you with the coat thing or what not, but no...im running the room nicely, your move." "Next is a trip to the ladies room in vain I bet you just can't keep up with these fashionistas Tonight, tonight, you are, you are the whispering campaign To them, your name is "Cheap", and you look like sh-- Talk to the mirror, choke back tears And keep telling yourself that, "I'm a diva." She goes to the ladies room when she sees him and comments to him "I bet you cant keep up with the fashionistas(fashion crowd, big on fashion basically) so shes saying your probally not gonna make it with those people in the crowd...there sharks" basically. and she says that to those fashion folks the clothes your wearing are "cheap and you look like sh--" She tells herself your ok, looks in the mirror keeps herself from crying. "and I know, and I know It just doesn't feel like a night out with no one sizing you up I've never been so surreptitious So of course you'll be distracted when I spike the punch" She comes out of the bathroom and gets annoyed that no one is paying attention to her (sizing her up) and looking at what SHE is wearing and she goes to ruin the party further be being stealthy and spikes the punch. Thats just my analysis of the song. Its quite a bit different from most peoples, but to me it just seems right. |
