These lyrics are to me incredible.. i think they are underapreciated by most. "Be the princess in that stone tower, crying for that handsome butcher’s plight (and, as some princess might, she still calls him a knight.)" This is a great way to show that she sees something else in her "stone" than he believes is there.. |

First, what a catchy song. Love it. Delial, pretty good, but maybe she's not the core you think. I mean, she says "Unpredictablility's my responsibility, baby." Maybe it's just cause i'm applying it to situations i know, but i think she is sort of throwing him a bone, not to be vulgar. She didn't have to, she doesnt really make sense to him and she did so cause "there's a bit of her waiting for a bit of me" He knows this, but takes it anyway in the hope it will give her something to think about before they go apart, hence the chorus? Might be something else, but i don't really see her as his centre, or always being there for him.. |

The person she sings about can't understand her. He's sane, and she lives on the outside, and so he seems insensitive. But he effects her nonetheless, and she can't help feeling pain, thinking about him, normal love type things. He loves differently, i love the line "so how you love, it feels how you feel". Insentive, distant, sane, rational. I dont know, i just adore her voice. |

To say that it is one of Modest Mouse's worse songs is, not fair. Take it for what it is, a feel good song that, although dosn't offer any interesting or more complex metaphors, affects you in far more positive ways than most other music that has been produced. I've listened to most modest mouse tracks, and this is the one that keeps coming back to my head, not because it is 'cool', but because its the most useful piece of music i've ever heard. Many times have i told myself to float on after disappointments and thought of this song as inspiration. If music is supposed to enrich your life, then im thankful for this song, and its message. |
