Perhaps a political undercurrent in this song? Through out history, the people who have made their mark on the human race are those who have stood up and been different. They have gone against the grain of common society. And a good chunk of them have sacrificed their lives in order for their voice to be heard. For the most part, it is so true that it does take more effort to change then it does to remain the same. Therefore we do lay back in our chains. Sleep and fade away Inside these walls we wait. Wake up to the silence After judgment day. Is it us that will sleep and fade away or the voices of those who stood up? And as for judgement day, we will reap the consequences of staying in the comfort of our chains. Worst comes to worst, just enjoy the music! Its a fantastic song regardless of definition. |

Truely epic band. This album has been playing in my car for 2 months now! In my opinion, this song is written with the thoughts and feelings of a man who I think had a lover/wife whatever murdered or something along those lines. I will see that they all know What you felt And I just hate them so Hate them, I hate They violated her, hurt her, he's on a revenge vendetta to hunt down every person involved and kill them. For the sum of the hurt And for the hauntings in the night They suffer this fairly As they lie in the dirt Begging, pleading for their lives I cover them slowly |

I don't think it's about rape at all. I truely feel this song represents a couple that have broken up after a long relationship. He speaks of being afraid of open water, which I think means he is afraid of entering a new long-term relationship, but bathes in sin often, aka sleeps around trying to fill the void inside. When it gets into the chorus and he speaks of dressed to kill, I think its where they have finally met up again (for some reason I see them in a car at night) and shes dressed up to show him whats he's missing out on. Her wounds are opening wide - old flame still there and they might be just his size - meaning he probably caused them. Reconfirmed when he says there was always warmth between us.. Speaks of their history. Basically :) |
