| You guys all peeled the orange, but you haven't quite eaten the fruit, yet. I think, possibly, but this is just an interpretation, that -as we stated earlier- humans have always been divided and it's about time we worked together, all as one and one as all (but let's not be communist). One thing we all do share, though, is our science and our thought, but, because we are terrirorial, we have developed different "ideas" on, say, how we came to be. Thus, there're are breaks on religions, in the forms of several thousand religions, each religion thinking they're correct. And then there's is a communal science, which evolution came to be the most prominant thought in our modern science of how we came to be. So, now there's a division between science and religious science. Mr. Keenan, being awesome as he is, threw in some irony in the song writing. The angels speak of the descent of man from monkeys despite the contridictions and disagreement from religion as an ironic form of unison between the two divisions of religion and science. | |

To me it sounds as though one of his inspirations, or someone he really looked up to, some sort of an authority figure was suppose to help him out through a tough time, but then he relizes, that this person is just a liar is doing no good in his life, and only made problems worse. Or it could be him reacting to a death, of one of his authority figures, and how he feels that the person let him down by dying, as if the authority figure was suppose to fix a problem but died before the person got the guts to help out the person who really looked up to him. Again it could also be about some inspirational figure that steve(the singer), never actually go to see before but had been told stories about how this person is a great person, but later finds out that those stories are lies and that this person is worthless. oR it could just be about the grim reaper. |
