SwimAndy that seems about exactly right...I guess I took it more literally, but now that I think about it the "surgery" works better as a metaphor. But if being cold is a metaphor for loneliness, why does he say "'cause when it's colder, I feel much better"? Is it just that he's realizing how much he pities himself? |

This song reminds me a lot of Warren Zevon's Excitable Boy, which is also very "happy-sounding" but completely twisted. It's a fun song but I wouldn't call it funny. |

i think the song is not so much about non-conformity but is making fun of the people who are so-called unique and independent and who think they are better than everybody else. sum 41 is saying that you may think you stand out from the crowd but you're really just a stupid jerk that laughs at other people's expense. or they could be serious (in saying that they laugh when old people fall, etc.) but that would be a bit disappointing. |
