Chimaira – No Reason To Live Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is about drugs. Brown, yellow and white are the colours of the more well known drugs. It's all about drugs wasting your life away.
The second verse is the aftermath, what becomes of those people that rely solely on drugs.

On a side-note: I love the guitar riff once the song kicks in.

Minus the Bear – Part 2 Lyrics 17 years ago
Sorry for the double post, but to add to what I just said. Seen as it's called Part 2 and it flows seemlessly from Dr. L'Ling, I'm pretty certain it's safe to say that they are related. I don't think it's just a clever name...

Minus the Bear – Part 2 Lyrics 17 years ago
I believe the man and woman he references here are the same two in Dr. L'Ling. Perhaps this woman was Snider's first and this nameless man stole her away. This may be the story of how that first happened.

Botch – Transitions From Persona To Object Lyrics 18 years ago
The clue is in the title. It would appear that the song is about sex, and more specifically casual sex, such as a one night stand. Read through the lyrics with that in mind and you'll see what I mean.

Minus the Bear – Fulfill the Dream Lyrics 19 years ago
Of course the last line is true, in this case at least. It means he's saying on the night (of passion and drunkedness) he didn't see it being a one night stand, but then in the morning when the sun has come up, he see's (plainly) that it was.

Fear Before – Drowning The Old Hag Lyrics 19 years ago
This is one of the best songs I've ever heard. I wish the rest of the album had this kind of pace, instead it feels more progressionist. Anyway, to start with it seems to be about sex, but seen as a lot of people say that Fear Before sing about god and such I guess it could easily be about that. So in conclusion I don't know what it's about :)

CKY – Sniped Lyrics 19 years ago
Yeah, it is a good song, but I don't think the whole album is that great. And it definitely isn't up to CKY standard. I don't think they'll do better than Vol. 1. And the "Faceless crime turned on you. Sniped from behind" lines are way to low and should've been brought to the front because the words themselves are cool. Just nit-picking though :)

Sepultura – Against Lyrics 19 years ago
In my opinion, Sepultura have done nothing but improve since Max left. And now Max has got Sepultura2 er, I mean Soulfly :) Come on, we all know that if Max was still with Sepultura they'd sound exactly the same as Soulfly does, and two great bands are better than one. As for the meaning... I dunno, it's just fucking cool :)

Sepultura – Sepulnation Lyrics 19 years ago
By the way, I'm not a Max hater, I think Max Cavalera is an amazing musician and a great writer/lyricalist/vocalist, it's just that he's doing so well in Soulfly, which sounds pretty much the same as Sepultura when Max was in it, and Sepultura have really evolved since he left, Derrick didn't just fill in for Max, he stepped into his place and made the vocal part of Sepultura his own, and personally I think Green has a much better voice than Max, he may not have as much a growl of a shout as Max does, but he has more of a range, and his screams are still piercing and fucking destructive.

Sepultura – Sepulnation Lyrics 19 years ago
Is everybody boycotting the Sepultura songs with Derrick Green? 'Cause hardly anyone has commented any of them. This song is so fucking good and an amazing opener for an amazing album. Anyone that thinks Sep was better with Max is stupid, simply because they're too intent on their opinion to actually give it time and listen to the music. Derrick's influence on Sepultura is great, his lyrics have alot more to them and the music (not that I know if Derrick has much contribution to the music) has so much more to it, it's heavier, yet more melodic and is good enough to just be able to sit and just listen to. Anyone that wishes Max was still in Sepultura should just listen to his new band, Sepultura2 (also known as "Soulfly")

Soulfly – Bleed (feat. Fred Durst & DJ Lethal) Lyrics 19 years ago
Fred Durst has actually got quite alot of good views, some of the small print in the back of the "Significant Other" booklet shows that. His problems are that he let money go to his head and just tried to give people what they want (which actually they didn't want at all apparantly) ((though there must be someone somewhere that likes the stuff he did from "Chocolate Starfish..." onwards)) (((but if there are they're probably having to ask their parents what a chocolate starfish is))) Anyway... Durst has got a fairly good voice (even if the words he uses it to sing are shit) and he does contribute something to this song, but he's still a squeaky lil' bald bitch who needs something no woman can offer.

Soulfly – No Hope = No Fear Lyrics 19 years ago
Lol, just pick out the punchlines from those great lines why don'cha. But yeah this song is a good song, and it is an uplifting song, and just an uplifting song, he's not saying that to have no fear you have to have no hope, he's telling the listener not to let things come down to hope alone, to break through your own barriers and to be fearless in doing so.

Soulfly – Bleak Lyrics 19 years ago
How come no one's commented on this song yet?? (everyone says that I know) but seriously, the down beat on the chorus, the way it flows is so amazing. As for the lyrics, Max is always very blatent with his words, so I don't need to say it's either about government or someone close to him, espessially seen as most of Max's lyrics refer to one of these two things :)

Jacob Bannon writes such fucking amazing lyrics, it's kinda irritating that you can't really hear them properly, his voice does sound kinda cool, but it would be better if you could hear every word. And he never punctuates the best lines, like "I will outrun you all" should be screamed really clearly. I know I'm just nit picking and I know it sounds great as it is and it's not my place to say, I just thought I would anyway :) Converge fucking own though

System of a Down – Störagéd Lyrics 20 years ago
The song is probably refering to stem cell research. Stem cell uses aborted fetuses, mainly their spines, and it is believed that they may hold the key to curing some diseases. The basic way it works is that because the fetus isn't fully developed yet, the cells it is made up of aren't either, blank cells if you will; I guess the idea is to manipulate the cells to create the ones you need to fill in the gaps in cures and stuff.. or something like that. I don't know much more about it than that but I think that that is what "Storaged" refers to.

*Sigh* You don't know Daryl at all do you?
I mean, neither do I personaly, but I've read a bit about him and I get a feel of him through his lyrics, and that man you described is not him. Almost all of EYEWTKAS was about a girl he loved but who left him on bad terms, you think he would do that to someone else knowing how much pain and hurt it causes? If you say yes, then you sir, are a fool.

aunt fe fe said:

- "I could relate to this song. The little girl's father was trying to do some sex position to her because his wife left him. Having no one else to practice on he used his daughter. After he was done she wasn't moving so he tossed her on the bathroom floor because it was closer to him. Well I wouldn't want to carry her all the way to her bed. "

Now... WHAT THE FUCK??? You can relate to that? You've been through a similar thing have you? Your wife left you so you raped your ELEVEN MONTH old daughter then smashed her face in did you?? Do that often?? If so then YOU need to be SHOT!!
And to whoever said "Who are you to judge the father?" Yeah sure, it's not nice to judge, and I try not to myself, but that's NOT judging. It's common-fucking-sense. If someone is SO mentally unstable that they can't see that RAPING their ELEVEN MONTH old DAUGHTER is wrong, then they really need to be taken out of socioty. AND THAT KINDA THING PISSES ME OFF ENOUGH TO MAKE ME WANNA KILL THEM MYSELF!!

After learning this about this song (though I dunno if I can listen to it again, I'm about to find out) I've found a new respect for Korn.

My God people; I read the first few comments on here, and they were saying how it sounds like it's about sex but they hope it's not JUST about sex or that it seems like it's about sex but it's got to be more than just that. Well it is more; it's about first time sex. Now, why is it a shame that it's about sex? And JUST about sex at that. Sex is the most passionate thing between two people (other than kissing) it's a big deal (to those that don't just use it for one reason or another) and you'll find that alot of songs are about sex in one way or another (espessially pop songs, though they normally suck).
Anyway... It's about first time sex. Plain and simple.

Sorry to sound like a jerk, but it is kinda obvious.

Deftones – Needles and Pins Lyrics 20 years ago
I love the marraige idea; that probably is what it is. It also seems though that it could be about other bands "selling out" (that term is misused alot)
"How neat. I'm impressed..." - Gotta love sarcasm.
"how did you come to be so blessed?" - He doesn't understand how they could get so rich and famous because he doesn't think they deserve that.
"You're a star. You blaze..." - Star as in famous and "you blaze" as in "you're on fire" as in you're doing really well (probably obvious).
"out like a sharp machine..." - Refering to how dangerous things aren't used, such as alot of the old machinery isn't used these days (or alot of precortion is used to make them safe), maybe refering to how alot of bands are cencored and alot of bands just let themselves be cencored (one of the proper uses of the term "selling out")
"Like a whale's moan..." - How alot of the bands that aren't making money are beautiful but are missunderstood, like a whale song (or moan as he puts it)
"Well I'm here if that's what you want" - Putting himself (and the music he and the band makes) out there, offering an alternative.
"Here we are - You're pins - I'm needles - Let's play..." - Okay... My interpretation of this bit is that pins are used for things like putting up posters (using pretty faces to sell things) and putting things on pinboards; where as needles are used for things like sewing (repairing things, making things stronger, pulling things together), umm... I can't think what else needles are used for, but you get the idea I hope.
"Here we are - You want this? - Then come on..." - Sounds like he's either offering a fight or just reiterating "Well I'm here if that's what you want".
"Tune out everyone in the crowd because now it's just me and you" - Saying 'ignore who the crowd favors' because he wants it to be about what he and who it's aimed at believe.
"Come fall in love with the sound" - Just offering his own music to be loved.
"Make a pact to each other when no one's around" - Maybe to do with bands signing contracts with record labels.
"put the cross between me and you" - I can't think of something for this that really goes with my interpretation, which is irritating, but maybe I'm just not thinking hard enough.
"Who wants to fuck with us now?" - This doesn't seem to go with my interpretation either. I guess I was wrong then. See what you think, maybe you can add to it. (I still prefer the marraige interpretation though)

Poison the Well – Sticks And Stones Never Made Sense Lyrics 20 years ago
I think this song isn't about relationships and girls that fuck around. That's what it kinda means to me, but, I think it's about a hero he might have had "thought that i would shove everything aside to shake your hand" Pushing through a crowd just to, well, shake his/her hand. "in your world excuses mean everything" the person he idolises making excuses to not see him. "i keep splitting myself for you" He keeps putting time aside to try and get close to this person. "you never knew me" because they never gave the chance. "these are my last words not that it matters anymore" He just gives up hope on them after telling them how he feels.
Of course, I could be completely mistaken, but I was reading the lyrics, and that idea just popped out at me. It's more to do with girls etc. to me though.

I Love the sound of the chorus compared to the verses in this song, the way there's a pause with just the reverb of the snare before the chorus starts, so amazing. And the title; one of the first things I noticed about PTW was the titles, they're so imaginitive and true if you read into them. But seriously (not saying I wasn't serious before), the phrase "Sticks and stones..." really DOESN'T make sense.

Sorry about that amazingly long comment. I think I was probably wrong about the meaning of the song anyway, but I thought I might as well put it out there
=)

Glassjaw – Radio Cambodia Lyrics 20 years ago
I really didn't want to get involved with the whole 'Who's punk and who's not?' thing, BUT... to say that Glassjaw is Nu Metal is fucking rediculous. Nu Metal is things like Spineshank, Chimaira, Ill Nino etc. (I do like all those bands btw) Though no one likes the term Nu Metal and bands hate to be labelled it. I've tried to classify Glassjaw, just so that when people say "What are Glassjaw like?" I can say one or two words and they'll understand a little better, but, I gave up on trying to classify them, it's impossible. Punk is the closest you can get (listen to their older stuff) Anyway... sorry for adding to it, and after re-reading my input I think it really isn't needed, but, I'm gonna put it out their anyway incase I made a good point without noticing. I was just pissed off at someone saying Glassjaw was Nu Metal is all.

Glassjaw – Tip Your Bartender Lyrics 20 years ago
I dunno what this song is exactly about. But I know it has the same sort of meaning as Pretty Lush because he does the same "98 bottles of beer on the wall..." rhyme just before he sings it live as he does on Pretty Lush. It might be to do with how soldiers drink in celebration or how they drink when they get a break from wars and such, though, I doubt it. But like I said; I have no idea what the song is exactly about. *Toddles off to read what other people have written about songs he likes*

Oh but btw... Daryl isn't sXe anymore. I was a bit sad when I found that out, but I got over it in about a day. He said it was because he didn't want to label and restrict himself anymore, that there are certain things he would like to expericence etc. He still doesn't drink or do hard drugs. He just smokes weed from time to time; which isn't too bad really. And it's totally fair; it's his life, he can do what he wants with it. As long as he doesn't become an alchoholic I'll still respect him.

Poison the Well – Crystal Lake Lyrics 20 years ago
For fuck sake people... Bands change... Because they are made up of people... With their own thoughts, feelings and ideas. If they wanna be different they can. The Opposite Of December has been and gone. You can stick that CD in your stereo whenever you like. What's the point in bands repeating what they've done? It's like Slipknot... I could moan and say "Oh their new album is so different, it's just shit" But if it was the same as their first or Iowa then I'd be saying "Oh they're just repeating what they've done. Why can't they think of anything new?" Do you see my point? Don't judge bands by their albums, judge albums by the songs on them. If you don't like an album that a band brings out, take it back to the shop and hope you like the next album.

This is a great song by the way. Kinda sad if it IS just about Friday The 13th, but hey, every song I love I have my own meanings for.

So anyway... I said what I wanted to say. And that doesn't go for just Poison The Well fans... It goes for every person that thinks that bands make music for THEM personally. Wake up. They make it for themselves and the fans in general. If they new how to make EVERY fan happy they'd be running the fucking country.

Wow... I think I've just had a revelation (ish). I think this song ISN'T about someone he had a relationship with (like a girlfriend) but about his dad. Because I believe that Apathy Is A Cold Body on You Come Before You is about his dad having dimentia. I have absolutely NO idea if that's true, but that's what it looked like from the video. And if you read the lyrics with that thought in your head it really makes sense. "Grey chairs cold but here for me" like the chairs in a hospital. I could anylise almost every line for you, but you can do it yourself from there I'm sure. Oh btw... Someone might have already come up with this thought... I dunno cause I didn't read all the comments. Sorry if they have.

Glassjaw – Trailer Park Jesus Lyrics 20 years ago
I think that this song might be an apology in a way. About some of the things said on EYEWTKAS to his ex Tiger. Read below, see what you think...
"Put the needle to the record, And hit me with your style. Soon enough I'll, Learn to unload my mouth." - about losing control when the music starts playing and just saying what comes into his mind.
"Can you see it's getting blacker, The vibe up in this place. When I displaced, What made me turn my face." - about how his lyrics weren't pretty and they sometimes could bring down the mood.
"I jumped ship to a burning sow, Had a ball. Atom bomb." - about how he got away from the shouting and screaming and fights with his ex and just sang about them in songs and had fun doing it.
"It was quite a dirty habit, When the last thing I do,
Has a swine slewn, Down martyr avenue." - maybe the words he wrote caused his ex to be disowned by a few of her friends etc.
"Am I driftwood or hosana? A knee-deep in disease. I'm the body, Laid a 9 on my sleeve." - then i kinda lose it from there, haha, but you get my point. Though...
"Tell the one
About the man who dug
Holes so deep
He lost sight of his word." - I think that might be about how he got so into shouting about his ex and screaming every swear word under the sun out to her that he kinda forgot why he was even mad or at least thinks that maybe it was the wrong way to go about it.

I have no idea what the relationship was like between Palumbo and Tiger. And I have no idea what it's like now. And sadly I probably never will. And the only person who KNOWS what this song means is Daryl. But I've given my opinion and told you what I see from this songs lyrics. Though I dunno why I wrote that... it's kinda obvious that it's my opinion etc. hmmm.... I should sleep more. I just thought I should write that incase someone who KNOWS Palumbo or Tiger or even THEM themselves reads this and thinks "What the fuck is this guy on about? They don't know me/her/them" ya know? So anyway... read and re-read and tell me what you think.

Espessially when there's a big scare about a new desease so everyone just takes as many meds as they can and get ill from that instead. *clears throat* I believe this song is about sex. It may not be, but that's what it means to me, and after all, that's what it asks in the box you write in. I believe the song is about first time sex, "A world premier" and how much presure and meaning it has...

If you're lying in bed with the pride of a lion
You are there.

... asking maybe if he's finally a 'man'. Also the video... I think it's done the way it is to show innosence(not sure how that's spelt) in the children, having no worries, without sex. Just a bit that's not much to do with what i said or am about to say; when he says "We are not the compition, we just strive to be number one" i think he's talking about not being enemies with the female side of the human race, just saying how much pressure there is on men to fuck well. I then believe that the song cuts into 'Stuck Pig' so beautifully because they are connected. It seems as though 'Must've run all day' is the sex song for lovers, and 'Stuck Pig' is the fuck song for fuckers. 'Stuck Pig is very aggressive and as if he just wants what he can get from it. where as 'Must've run all day' sounds more gentle and sensitive, wanting the best for the one they love. 'Stcuk Pig' also sounds as if it's someone having sex who is used to it and just doing it out of instinct and habit.

If you disagree, please say so and i will expand on what i've said as there are some things i'm sure i left out. Sorry for the 'essay'

I have no idea what the true meaning behind this song is, and, I probably never will; but to me it's to do with sex, I guess that's just cos that's where I am in my life at the moment. To me it's a contrast between fear of sex and full on 'fuck your brains out' sex. It is my favorite song at the moment, which is odd, because I've never had a favorite song before. I listened to it like 30 times in a row. I Love every fucking peice of this song, espessially the way all the way through, he's edging towards screaming his guts up... and then at the end he just breaks into it so smoothly... you haven't even realised he's screaming out to you.

Grunt fuck.
Grin fuck.
Push her in the snow fuck.
The dope fiend splashes gash like a nailbomb.

... My favorite words in a song ever. So smooth sounding and they fit so well... and they're really good to scream along to.
