I absolutely love thid, it's my favourite Smiths song and i never get bored of it. I agree it had added poignance because it it both sad, humourous and a jab at their critics, to an uptempo beat. You can basically play this song AT ANY TIME, whatever mood. It's just perfect in every way, and the lyrics, oh the lyrics! Simply put, they are some of the best ever lyrics of possibly th greatest lyricist ever.

Alkaline Trio – Time To Waste Lyrics 20 years ago
On a side-debate regarding this albums production/poppiness, you could argue that of the much older stuff, it is the more melodic and catchy songs that stood out anyway, and that the Trio choose to play live themselves? Songs like My Friend Peter and I lied my face off etc stand out much more than tracks like Exploding Boy or Keep 'em Coming for example. It was surely the those songs that coupled moody lyrics with less moody riffs that first drew us to the trio? And then we liked the other tracks more after we came to love the Trio?

Yeah, the correct lyrics are all on the website, but i guess you all know that. I wanted to make a general point about the album so thought the opening track was the place to do it. A lot of posts i've read complain about this being poppy/produced. To be honest, it sounds rawer than Good Mourning did. I reckon there's gonna be people who liked Alk3 before From Here to Infirmary that are gonna be all angry that they're favourite band are getting recognition, and that sucks, because the Alk3 deserve it. They deserve a producer like Finn more than Blink did, and whatsmore it will give them the opportunity to match their lyrical ability with new sonic adventures. To this end, while 'Burn' has probably their weakest line ever in the first couplet, it's great to hear the guys using some effects, makes it a bit different.
One last point, is that people on this site seem to complain that a few of the songs on the album 'sound like the rest of alt. radio' - i'm assuming you're in America and thus have whole radio shows of this kind of stuff. Unfortunately, or fortunately here in England, we dont have that. So ALk 3 isnt overplayed, or sound like anything else. So maybe i havent heard all the 'similar' bands your referencing. But i have heard a lot of music in my time, and personally i feel this is the Alk3's strongest album since Infirmary, more mature. Only slightly weaker songs IMO are fall victim, your neck and prevent this tragedy. but they'll prob grow on me anyway, like trucks and trains and you're dead did from FHTI.
