This song is from Ilse DeLange's album The Great Escape. It is featured as an international bonus track. The vast majority of the song is Dashboard, though, so I figured that it counted. I found the song via a torrent of the album. It is pretty good. There may be two errors in the lyrics, but I couldn't find any other reference to compare them to, so I chose the most logical of the possibilities. |

| Dashboard Confessional – Dusk and Summer Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Firstly, this is possibly my favorite song off of the new album. And as Katiedid717 mentioned, I also got the impression that there was something deeper than the end of a summer romance. I mean, romance ends--it shouldn't take one by surprise. The more I think about it, the entire song does correlate well with A Walk to Remember...the movie, at least. To me, it seems as if it is about meeting a girl at the start of summer, falling in love with her, learning that she is dying, and then the aftermath. If it had been a long romance, there would be no need for, "But you've already lost when you only have barely enough of her to hang on." Also, the line of, "And she told you bad things that you wished you could change," goes along with the death theory. So, yeah. The only line that really bothers me is the, "No one is alone the way you are alone," one. It seems out of place, somehow. If she were to die, it wouldn't make his loneliness unique in any way. :\ |

It was a lot better without Adam Duritz. Listening to the live version and then listening to the album version is totally different. The latter is too...clunky and slow; Adam's vocals do not help that. For meaning, it always came off to me as a sort of OC-lifestyle-gone-sour. It obviously references a beach and a town, so it is logical to assume that the song is "set" in a (gasp) beach town. The person is tired of the stoic lifestyle of going through girl after girl - (How the girls could turn to ghosts before your eyes). He eventually gets tired of it and just leaves. It is debatable whether he found anything "meaningful" before leaving, though. The new version omits the line of "the soft way you’d hold me in the night," so there may be a reason for that. I just came up with an interpretation so no one would eventually start bitching because there is no discussion about the meaning. Simply, I think it is about outgrowing a life and wanting something better and less monotonous. Again, it was better without Duritz. |

| Dashboard Confessional – Don't Wait Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| As of May 5, there is a 30 second sample of this song on DC's myspace and website. The studio version sounds much better than the live one, though I've grown very fond of it. This is their new single, so I guess we'll be hearing it everywhere soon enough. New album is due out June 26. | |

I saw it on LSI and then here. I haven't been able to find it through iTunes, Napster, MP3.com, or Ares. It seems very...different. I am wondering how it sounds, though. Dashboard has like three different sounds and I am wondering if it is full band, acoustic, or accompanied by a piano in So Long, So Long fashion. But yeah, it would be nice to know where to get the song. |

| A Day at the Fair – Homesick Angels Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I think this song is about survivor's guilt. "I apologize for living, you could have done this better". He is thinking about how the person who died didn't deserve to, they were too "innocent". Despite this, he still has the faith he did prior to her death, "I still believe in the stars". Then the song is about moving on...and never forgetting. | |

About the "Donald Trump" thing, I never noticed that until I read these comments. I always thought it was "gonna trump you" or something, but I suppose not. o_o Regardless of that reference, this is one of my top five DC songs. I was really disappointed when I heard the news that Chris wrote a new album that was dissimilar to this song, as the "original" next album was supposedly more piano-centric. Oh well, we can hope for an EP or some such. |

| Dashboard Confessional – Hey Girl Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Around the time that A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar came out, I was talking to a girl. One night, I was listening to the CD while talking to her and I said, "This song reminds me of you." And it still does. "Your cruel intentions won't solve your problems." | |
