The transition between "Speak to Me" and this song amazed me. And as the album went on, it amazed me even more. I'd never heard anything like it. Really opened me up to a lot more musically.
I think this song is about life in general. It's an overview of the concept of the album. |

Well I know almost everyone here likes this song because they hate MTV, but I hate it for a different reason: how they treated Pink Floyd at Live 8. I mean, they showed the entire Jay-Z/Linkin Park performance, but when a band that makes two of the most highly-regaurded, influential, and best-selling albums in history reunite for the first time in twenty-four fucking years, they MTV cuts them off before the second guitar solo in Comfortably Numb. Now I'm a pretty young Floyd fan, so this pissed me off considerably, as I did not have the chance to see them perform live before. And also because there's no M, just crappy shows. And they cancelled one of their shows that actually wasn't crappy - The Tom Green Show (hey, I don't think it's bad. But then again, I have a thing for Tom Green.).
OK, a little off-topic. But anyway, I love the Dead Kennedys and this song and all their other songs. Jello Biafra has a great voice (especially in "Holiday in Cambodia"). =] |

This song makes me depressed. It reminds me of my mother and I. "We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl" - we are present physically but so far apart mentally and emotionally. "Running over the same old ground, what have we found? The same old fears." - we have been together for so long and have gone through many things and developed the same fears because of that."Wish you were here" - I do. |

What album was this originally on? I know it was on Ummagumma, but that was a live version, and I downloaded a studio version. Or maybe the studio version was made aftervthe live version.
