| green monkey is right. "Licensed To Ill" was their first rap album, and it was a joke. It turned out to be a format that worked for them, so they went with it. Look at songs from later in thier career, and you can clearly see they are very pro-gender-equality. They were kids, it was a joke, it makes for a catchy, fun little song. Go with it. | |

Has anyone considered this song could be about a breakup? The first verse is about the actual breakup, and how she's the one who did it. The first chorus is foreshadowing of the rest of the song, and how's he's moved on and is happy now. The second verse goes into that. He's okay, but now she wants to come back, and he doesn't, but at the same time, he wants to try. Everything about the situation is making him paranoid, so what is he supposed to do? (I'll admit, I don't see how the "all police are parnoid" line fits into this at all.) Then it all repeats itself. The last two repeating lines are his inner turmoil boiling over, but in the end, he wants to be on his cloud, without her. That's what I think. But what makes a song really good, and this one most certainly IS, is the ability to apply it to more than one situation in life. So, that's just my opinion. |
