Nick Drake – Clothes Of Sand Lyrics 20 years ago
Nick got his inspiration to this song when he was in Morocco, but in my mind "Clothes of Sand" is just a metaphor for someone or something who has replaced Nick as a friend or, most likely, lover. His lover (or friend) has either found a new lover or moved in a direction that Nick does not appreciate. He feels abandoned and questions the person's behaviour. Perhaps the person has married someone else (changing name). Therefore, he wants the person to go down to the sea (to wash off the sand!). Although the lyrics deals with intricate details as possible drug abuse (silver spoons etc), I beleive it's a beautiful song about lost love.

Elton John – Harmony Lyrics 20 years ago
Here is a thought. Elton is facing an ex lover who left him brokenhearted. Elton dreamt of a paradise with that person (never never land?) but it went down the toilet and it turned out that the lover was just a spoiled child not ready for serious commitments (based on the other sarcastic elements in the lyrics). Still, he seems to have second thoughts (and love remaining) now that the person returns to see him, provided the person is ready to open up his/her heart and take a slow start at finding each other once more. Anyway, good "harmonies" throughout the song.

David Bowie – Rock 'n' Roll Suicide Lyrics 20 years ago
Although Mr. Jones is famous for his sometimes not too easily interpreted lyrics (not to mention his amazing chord alterations), I beleive this song also could be interpreted as a "regular" love song dedicated to person he knows very well (ex lover or long lost friend?) who is going through a low period (drug related or, perhaps, sexual disorientation). He's reaching out an helping hand (David, as you know, having vast experience in both fields).
