Snow Patrol – Headlights On Dark Roads Lyrics 19 years ago
Yeh i'm agreeing that it's mostly about suicide. Suddenly, you're attracted to the thought of dying, when you can't bare the thought of living anymore. Hence the "headlights" are "before me", "reach out and take it". He's not afraid of dying anymore, and accepts it, but at the same time crying out for help.
He's being lured in to death almost.

Maybe it's about the transition from childhood to adulthood? The point in someone's life when it suddenly hits you and all of a sudden you feel terribly alone. For some it feels like your suddenly left by yourself with noway out, and feels like no one cares. Just because you've certain age...humm a bit of a strange thought lol.

Brand New – Failure by Design Lyrics 19 years ago
The anaolgy of getting ready to go on stage? How about the thoughts leading up to suicide? Hence the "failure by design", people with a low self-esteem would identify with such a topic.

James Blunt – Wisemen Lyrics 20 years ago
but...perhaps it does still hold meaning to more than one thing. metaphorical and just alternative interpretation in this song. Just coz he's written 'No Bravery' directly about the war, doesn't mean his other songs don't include more than one story.

Starsailor – Silence is Easy Lyrics 20 years ago
I agree with zerorespects. I have heard that James Walsh is quite a shy person, so maybe it's to do with how he's found some people to have prejudice against quiet people. I've had similar experience, as I myself could be considered "quiet" at times. Most people judge a person to be "boring" if they are shy, and the line "You don't even know me" suggests the people who dislike like you because they've heard off other people that they dislike like you because your "quiet". When your shy, quietness just "becomes" you and you can't help it. However, this does not under any cirrcumstances mean you are 'boring'. This is what some people just can't understand. It's just discrimination, against something you can't help.

James Blunt – Out Of My Mind Lyrics 20 years ago
perhaps it may be about how he feels he was being treated like "a puppet on a string" in the war?
He fealt like he was in a "pantomime" it fealt so unreal. He fealt he was being used, "a concubine", will be made to fight until it's been seen that his "heart bleeds".

James Blunt – Wisemen Lyrics 20 years ago
"they were three wise men, just tryin' to have some fun."
or....the three wisemen may be the three main agonists who james/army were fighting aganist. He appears to use irony to take a stab at them, by saying " just tryin' to have some fun.". As, i feel this suggests how they didn't consider how many lives may be lost, and it's as if they are just playing with people's lives for "fun". Again the irony of "wise" men. I think this suggests total anger on james' behalf, as you have to ask yourself the question 'do wise people start wars without considering consequences?'
"where are you now" may also mean, look where starting a war has got you. A huge attack on the staters of grief.

James Blunt – Wisemen Lyrics 20 years ago
I think this song is about James' feelings about the war he fought in. I believe it may be him asking him self "where are they now", as there is fear of the unknown. His inner most thoughts as he was running through the battle grounds, fearing what was round every corner.

"Couldn't escape from you, couldn't be free of you" Suggest the people caught up in the middle, the citizens. On the other hand, it may be the people who were being fought against. They couldn't "escape from" the army/james , But now they are "really sorry for what they've done" when they realised "there's no way out" of being defeated and so they wished they'd never caused chaos to disrupt their country, as they are the ones who will suffer after they've been defeated and they now realise that.
"Those three wise men, they've got a semi by the sea," I feel this may be a metaphor to explain how close, the situation is between suffers, the army and the dictators/disrupters. If they all live in a "semi" as in a semi-detatched house, this show how close together everyone is. Suggesting everyone is involved in that country, and there's no escaping the terror of war.
There are many metaphors and alternative interpertaions in James' songs, so you could go on for absolutly days writing and writing. I'm gonna stop on that note...
