and Good job barunesusa. Also to dukebball--they sing about what's real in the world--that has to do with wars and politics. Hey if they wanna sing the truth--i say go for it! At least they don't sing about breakups all the time like the majority of singers do. To Thru Being Cool: you said the troops know what they are signing up for. Well they think they know and they think it is for a good cuase. Who would want to kill people and/or possibly give their life for some oil? I fully support our troops. Not the deliberate scheming of selfishness masked by 'freedom.' |

Hey it's not so much anti-war song. It's the reason behind the war. If we're going to Iraq for oil so the politicians can't make money, then why don't they go themselves? like someguy said already one senator out of hundreds has a son enlisted and yes he's in iraq. And i don't understand how it went from finding bin-ladin to forget about him the real bad guy is saddam. If we have saddam in our possession how come we haven't gotten rid of the nuclear weapons and made him comply? It's puzzling to me. and to Piece's "System's music is good but these rants get old and the lies they push on America's youth is just as bad as a politicians." That statement seems to be a glaring contradiction to me b/c if you can't trust what SOAD's saying and it's as bad as politicians are saying--then how can you believe the politicians so easily as you do? In the end, it all comes down to more green paper for the 'corporate minds.' |

I think this song is talking about most people. We are being sheltered from what Truth is through the media (their ideals, politicians, even churches) mostly. And as long as the truth stays silent most everyone will be happy. We can be distracted from it and we won't have to deal. It reminds me a little of Fahrenheit 451 (a book) and 1984, and Brave New World. They do apply to us now. |

I agree. Religions make so many different laws and rituals that aren't biblically based at all. But blind leads the blind and the people dont' take the time to look it up for themselves, instead they are spoon fed by the fallable humans. We have chosen man's traditions (which make God's word to no effect) over the Truth. Everyone thinks they are saved because they go to church on Sundays...with many idols in all of them. "Reinterpret the facts of history" is one of the most important lines in this song. Go back, look up, search the history of every religion (even Christianity) for what it is. Remember Israel is where we started....all of our "religions" are pretty different from what the Truth is. |

one more thing... on the breatheanew.tk website it says andrew wrote this when a friend of his was molested by a pastor or something like that. Anyways, the pastor was a truthless hero if you get the drift. |

This sounds more of a song about Truthless Heroes. he knows about what they are doing--adding to their wealth and their disguises, lying lying lying to us, etc... hence "we caught you plotting murder." We know what you are doing in reality and we will not be fooled anymore. "I am the words on the page i am the death among life today i am the voice of one among the silent who's tired of burning among the flames." He is not going to be silent about it like everyone else is. If you are confused about truthless heroes go to the website www.truthlessheroes.com and that will help. Oh and watch Fahrenheit 911 starring some of your favorite truthless heroes. Oh and remember at the end of the song he screams "I NEED TRUTH!" |

or.... it could have been a father who raped his daughter. He stripped her of her innocence and now she is cutting herself "digs the shiv into her placid veins". He tries to act like nothing happened "thin veneer of catechism" but the guilt eats him. "Writhe and burn father you were" sounds like it's a pretty angry statement but fitting for this situation. |

It kind of sounds like it's sarcasm because when you this girl was a baby her dad was proud that she had his eyes. But really it's like are you proud now dad? She has your wayward, sexually immoral eyes. She's killing her own self with this and he feels guilty for setting this bad example. At the end it sounds like she's falling to her knees in prayer and wanting to start over like strat said |

Sirsteven good job. Also i'm thinking of like a picture of the Israelites fleeing from Egypt. They were always double minded with God and had a hard time turning their back on Egypt once they got in the wilderness. once they got there, the only thing they could do was rely on God. They had nothing else and that's exactly where he wanted them (and us). So Fight for our tomorrow makes me think of the battles we have when we use his word. Fall to stand surrender to follow is opposite of what we think we should do. But surrender to God and he will take care of you though you want to take care of yourself. And all the parts in parenthesis ("I will avenge I will repay.") are like God saying if you let go of this control you want over your life and put your trust in me I will do this for you. |

Everything that seems so important to us-- worldy things is what he fought so hard to keep. He is trying to open the eyes of his friend who does not have a relationship with God but it is too late b/c he has nothing to show from his life. We don't have anything to offer to the lost if we are delving in shallow things that make us hollow. |

metal, demented, and ice seem to understand. I also think it means that in everything you do the only person who can hold you back is your own self. It is a battle within your mind everyday. Your mind is where the devil works and decieves. That is where you are successful or defeated. So in the end it goes along with my 2 fave quotes: "A lie unchallenge becomes the truth." and "I have met the enemy and it is me." |

No matter what, I think most churches are this way. Or at least the big ones. They need more money to build bigger churches and keep renovating or whatever. Or like my old church--to mount a gigantic cross on the front. Tons of churches advertise on tv or billboards--but why? Those t-shirts and slogans... but most of all... we need to get you saved! We had 300 more saved Sunday morning! It may sound good but... "repeat this prayer after me" is barely the beginning of a relationship with God. |

Welp, this is talking about how people want to buy buy buy more and more. The industry loves it because there quotas are being made and this is how it is planned. We look to them to keep making more clothes and things so that we can wear brand names and be "somebody." But in the end, we keep wanting more and it never fills the void. |

I think sirsteven is right. I also think that in the beginning he is talking about living here on earth in sin "like forgery and larceny and my ill-gained revelry." But at the same time being a "religious church-goer" in "i recite these scripted lines..all i missed in all of this was you." he is missing out on knowing God and abusing forgiveness. THen he is realizing God calling him to leave that type of life and recieve his promises. |
