Tim Minchin – You Grew On Me Lyrics 15 years ago
What I love about this song is that it doesn't go that far beyond the love-as-affliction metaphor already present in so many love-songs-by-numbers. By taking it to its natural conclusion, this song should be hilarious and, as you say, snarky, but it manages to be incredibly tender and beautiful at the same time. One of my favourites.

Lily Allen – The Fear Lyrics 17 years ago
I think "I'm packing plastic" is about credit cards, because the next line "I am a weapon of massive consumption" is all about being a consumer, or a shopaholic.

Louis XIV – Pledge Of Allegiance Lyrics 19 years ago
I love the line "But can you keep a secret? Because the best little secrets are kept.".

Being together when no-one else can know is so sexy.

Razorlight – Fall, Fall, Fall Lyrics 20 years ago
I love the line:

"I need you here - just to lean my way and fall, fall fall."
just the idea that it's such a selfless love that he wants nothing from this girl except to be the one she leans on.

I love his use of examples of things that are incomplete, or imperfect, and as such have a real sadness about them.
"Trees without leaves and notes that don't ring,
Wine left to rot, and a voice that can't sing"

Whoever said it feels like he's right there next to them when they listen to this song, I couldn't agree more. More than any other Razorlight song, this one feels so honest and painful.

I read somewhere that When He Was 20 was written about Carl Dalemo, Razorlight's bass player.
