I think that this song is probably about being abused by someone close to you, or someone you love. Maybe a family member? The line; "I love you and I understand that you stood where I stood", Makes me think that maybe the abuser had also experienced the same things as a child. After all, we live what we learn. Very good lyrics overall, I like them very much. |

The way I interpreted this song is completely different from what's here... To me, it seemed like this song was about a couple of teenagers in love. Their parents didn't approve of them seeing each other. I think the 'snow' is a metaphor for gossip, about the couple. The lines about digging a tunnel seem to be about meeting each other in secret, or even more like running away together. To me, the lines "And since there's no one else around/We let our hair grow long/And forget all we used to know" just shows more of the same disregard for their parents' opinions. One of my favorite parts of this song is the part that goes "then our skin gets thicker /From living out in the snow". It makes me think that they've gotten used to the gossip about them, and it doesn't matter anymore. It just reminds me so much of the stereotypical Romeo and Juliet type story. Excellent song. (Okay, so that up there has nothing to do with the song. I love it regardless.) |
