oh, i didnt even realize this was about katrina.
I don't like that every band that I have bought a CD from this year has a track about the storm. :P, its okay though, they voice what they want to voice.
i thought this song was about a controlling relationship, and the 6 feet under water was about how she was drowning him...but hats off to you guys, i agree with the N.Orleans bit |

| John Butler Trio – Good Excuse Lyrics

I never really liked this song. It just wasn't my idea of JBT.
Anyway, I think JB is a little off on this one.
In today's world, complaining is really looked down upon. There are not many ways people (if they are down) can complain, without really sounding like a jerk and then shunned by whoever they complain to.
Whether he's saying stop complaining or it could be worse, these people then have no one to vent to, and their problems, as small as they will be, will slowly grow, until this person actually can effect the world, and from their past they repeat the same mistake of those who shunned them.
People need someone to complain to, and saying don't do it, could just make things worse.
It's not that I don't like the song because of my explanation, i just didn't like the beat of it. ;) |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Californication Lyrics

I don't know if someone said this, there are a million posts, I just want to put my word in there.
fornication is sex without marrige...that's it
so, they could be talking about (along with the downfall of western civilization) how so many try to come out to California to be rich and famous (sex) before they are ready (marrige). The peppers seem to have adament thoughts on this, relating to other songs they have done like Tell Me Baby
and, as so many others have said, this is about the desire and the fakeness overcoming so many "buy me a star on the boulevard" |

| Neuroticfish – I Don't Need The City Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
This is such a good song.
I agree with Gevrik, the song is about the ignorance of city-lifestyle...but there may be even more to it.
He starts off talking about the city, how ignorant they are, how he doesn't need to live that way to live his life, but then the song comes to a slow with the line:
"It seems to me, that I have found my pleasures, in watching them drowning... slowly." He then continues to sing "I don't need this...I don't want this"
I think this means that he is finding out that he lives by taking pride in watching them "drown", and is therefore no better than them....saying I don't need this.
Who knows, I could be way off.
Who cares, this is so good of a song. |

| Neuroticfish – The Bomb Lyrics
|
Wow, just found out about this band
good stuff
well written lyrics
this is about something that he holds close that could possibly destroy him.
I was thinking that maybe it was his heart that he was talking about comparing it to a bomb.
Keeping it safe, cause it allows him to live, but in the end, it is always "ticking" and will be the cause of demise in so many cases.
The end sort of veers away from this though, it goes into something that I think he is sick of oppresion....where? i do not know. could be within a home, or as large as a government.
regardless....awesome song |

| Incubus – Anna Molly Lyrics
|
I don't think in the lyrics it was meant to read "anomaly" that is just how he is saying "anna molly" but with a twist so it sounds like anomaly.
the concept of this song is great, i dont think he is using anomaly as the definition of a distance between planets, more so as the definition: different or unlike.
whatever the matter, this song kicks ass, it does get better everytime and i just love the "du du du du du du" parts lol |

Anyone think this song is a little too poppy? Based on previous songs.
And anyone else think Amy Lee's voice sounds like Kelly Clarkson? Not saying anything bad, they both have great voices. |

This song is awesome with great guitar parts, especially in the beginning when the two guitars repeat the parts back to each other. Very intelligently written song with great lyrics to boot.
i think the "Mice and Men" part is from John Steinbeck's novel, though I'm not sayin that that's 100% correct. |

On the Living CD, there is more to this song. I don't know it exactly, but after going nuts on the guitar (what JB does best), he starts to sing about how he thinks war is wrong and how young soldiers "Don't Understand" what theyve gotten themselves into. It is very powerful. Great song. |

| Ten Years After – I'd Love to Change the World Lyrics

This song is great, but the whole "I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do So I'll leave it up to you", part could be coming from someone who is growing up in a tight situation, and can't do anything. Maybe it is from a poor man's point of view; " Tax the rich, feed the poor
Till there are no rich no more". Makes sence to me. |

I think the windmill represents freedom. The singer is trapped in a place he doesnt want to be. In the video, he looks scared, and he yearns to be on the windmill, which represents freedom. Thats how I see it. |

This song is just awesome, musically, it's not the greatest but it has so much meaning. It talks about everything that happened in the mans life and how the world is in a decline. When he was young everything was great, "supposed good ol' days", then it ends with the man not even being to be able to go outside. This song is great. |
