I think this song IS about the u.s, i mean there isn' alot of other contries who are so commanding with thier power (except maybe russia) i think it's about some contries who are totally anti-us and who are saying they want to take down america but america is saying, you can't becuase we have the bigger bombs, and the bombs are being compared to whips because it is like the master whipping the slave becuase the slave did something wrong, the slave can't defend themselfs because they arn't armed. And i don't think this song is blantanly political, it's kind of like a general assesment of the world today without being to specific and without really taking a side, like on one hand the master (america) is defending themself against the slave (the smaller country) but on the other hand the master has a whip and the slave is unarmed this song isn't political because it dosn't say this is wrong and this is right it's more like these are the facts, draw your own conclusions. |

sapphiregirls probaly refers to alot of women who these days only care about money and pretty things, in my opinon this song compares societiy to the wilderness and how there really isn't any real freedom and how the book burning part talks about how we are losing our right to free speech, also the line that says "Lost to the treasures that compel us" means that people will do just about anything for money (like the sapphire girls thing) and i think that alert status red is about how there is always something that is happening to keep the terror level up (like the color coding sysytem in the US always seems to be elevated) and how we always seem to be living in fear |

Man, best killers song, ever (narrowly beating midnight show) but i honestly think that: 1.It's about a stalker 2.it's about a male stalker 3.the stalker didn't have the courage to talk to andy, the amazing sports star, or every time he tries to befreind andy he puts him down (hence the shut ups) 4.The stalker sees andy in the car with a girl and and gets enraged (promise me she's not your world) because he has sexual feelings for andy (and NO im not saying brandon flowers is gay) 5.I think the stalker gets so enraged he attacks, and maybe even kills andy (in the staff when the verdict is in) that's what i think, it makes sense too, weither or not it's right, i have no idea |

i have the kennedy curse, from what i read it's great even if the book seems really far fetched. anyway i love this song and it pisses me off when somebody says it racist, I mean this song is all about the kennedies (especially JFK) and how one of the greatest US presidents was killed by a bullet to the head, i think slipping racist comments into this song would be stupid, think about it, the kennedy era is about the time blacks got thier rights, and it's not like JFK was totally anti-minority, i mean if they wanted to slip racist comments wouldn't they do it in a song more about black people? anyway i think this is a great song, sort of sucks that the wonderfull lyrics arn't easy to hear, sounds great though. |
